The author uses Nick's opinions( which are his own) about other characters to get you to like or dislike certain types of people. Which character do you currently think is the most dangerous? Why?

message 2: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer (jen16) | 2 comments I believe myrtle is one of the most dangerous characters because of how profound and mysterious she is. She doesn't shut her mouth and she oversteps her boundaries. Plus, she is leading a double life that will end in tragedy, and I am afraid to see how she reacts.

message 3: by Madi (new)

Madi Heintz | 4 comments Right now I think Nick is, with he's seemingly steady flow of alcohol and awkward way with people I'm not sure I like him. He shows a lot of contradictions and considering he's telling the story I don't think I like that

message 4: by Tyler (new)

Tyler Mazurek | 5 comments Tom Buchanan only because he is a Cheating coward and i feel like he is a drunk and can cause harm to his wife and/or others within the book. As in he demanded nick to go to NY to meet his "GIRL" he has a commanding tone and is a secrete drunk.

message 5: by Pravin (new)

Pravin Patel | 4 comments I feel as Gatsby is the most dangerous character. We don't know too much of him. He is a mysterious man that has interest in Nick. I got a feeling he is going to use Jordan as a tool to get something out of Nick.

message 6: by Chandler (new)

Chandler Nelson | 5 comments I believe that the most dangerous character that we know about is Tom. Tom is on the fast track for destruction, he is super reckless with his actions. He really doesn't seem to care about the consequences of his actions, I believe that he will soon find out just what he has gotten into.

message 7: by Brittany (new)

Brittany Danner | 6 comments Tom because he broke daisy's nose with his open hand. Just be cause daisy didn't listen to him she did that. Also because he's the one Murtle is having an affair with, so in the end it's going to hurt Murtles and George's relationship.

message 8: by Danielle (new)

Danielle | 5 comments i think the most dangerous character is Tom Buchanan because he is cheating on his wife and he already broke a girls nose for mentioning Daisy's name. who knows what other damage he could do?

message 9: by Alyssa (new)

Alyssa | 4 comments I believe that Gatsby is the most dangerous character. No one really knows anything about him. When he's telling Nick about himself, the way he says things about himself makes them seem untrue.

message 10: by Tiffany (new)

Tiffany | 5 comments I believe that Myrtle is and could be the most dangerous in the book, because she is the woman on the side. Who only wishes that she could be in Daisy's spot as Toms wife. Meaning she is capable of doing anything and everything in her power to get what she wants.

message 11: by Mikey (last edited Dec 12, 2014 07:15AM) (new)

Mikey Callender | 3 comments As of right now I think Nick is the most dangerous character in the book, with him always putting down alchohal and being quite about everything thats going on. He just rubs me the wrong way.I feel like he is hiding something. I think at any moment he could just snap and cause chaos for everybody around him.

message 12: by Mandy (new)

Mandy Wilson (mandyswilson) | 5 comments Tom Buchanan is the most dangerous character so far. He is well known and not because of the extravagant parties that he throws, like Gatsby. People don't say anything bad about him, I think it's because they're afraid of him and the connections he has. Daisy doesn't tell anyone about him abusing him nor does she leave him for cheating on her.

message 13: by Cullen (new)

Cullen | 5 comments I think that the most dangerous character in the book is Daisy. She has knowledge of tom cheating on her and yet she stands by and does nothing to prevent it. I think that she is doing something that has a very low profile or she is going to snap and everyone will be in trouble.

message 14: by Gavin (new)

Gavin | 3 comments i think that the most immediate danger is Wolfsheim he is the closest to shady dealings and death, and nick gives him a mob vibe.

message 15: by Taliahann (new)

Taliahann | 4 comments i think Myrtle is the most dangerous character right now because she is causing a lot of problems. She is only the mistress and shes trying to take daisys place. and shes capable of many things.

message 16: by Milan (new)

Milan | 5 comments i think that each character has their own way of being "dangerous" but i think Gatsby is among the more dangerous. because we know next to nothing about the guy. he's strange and pretty mysterious.

message 17: by Radvile (new)

Radvile | 5 comments I think one of the more dangerous character so far would be Tom. He drags Nick along to the apartment in New York I think to get on his good side. To make sure he won't say something to Daisy, even though she does already know about the affair. Nick also said earlier that he has a cruel body, maybe meaning that he is dangerous and he could hurt someone if he tried.

message 18: by Cameron (new)

Cameron | 4 comments In my opinion Gatsby is the most dangerous character. I think because Gatsby plays a stand by and over watching character. To me this seems to make him look like he has his own plan for nick. From the start you can see Gatsby has a interest in nick for some reason other than friendly co-existing. The biggest evidence of this was when Gatsby gave nick the invitation to the party however every one there just showed up for it without one.

message 19: by Tamas.kerekes (new)

Tamas.kerekes | 4 comments It is obvious that we perceive Gatsby as a mysterious character, therefore he is unpredictable. But is he dangerous? It is a distinct possibility, he comes off as an unreliable narrator. So would it be wise to believe everything he has to say.

message 20: by Makinzee (new)

Makinzee | 5 comments I think Gatsby is the most dangerous because they're a lot of rumors about him and what he does and no one knows the truth. Even when he talks to Nick about the truth, it's still a little fishy. There's still a lot of questions unanswered about him.

message 21: by Jaclyn (new)

Jaclyn Kaltenberg | 3 comments I think Tom is the most dangerous character. He broke Myrtles nose and is cheating on his wife. Yes, the other characters are dangerous as well but going to the extremes of breaking a woman's nose definitely beats any other character. His wife knows about the affair he is having and has not left him which shows a controlling relationship which is not healthy and dangerous.

message 22: by Alexis (new)

Alexis VanDyke (SwedishPasta) | 5 comments Daisy. She is money and attention hungry. All she wants is to stay relevent in peoples minds and to prove that she is worth time. Her distuctive and self centered attitude is dangerous

message 23: by Samantha (new)

Samantha Confer | 3 comments I believe that the most dangerous character as of now, is Tom Buchanan. He does what he wants, whenever he wants. A wife isn't enough for him, and soon a girlfriend won't be either. He does what he pleases and doesn't think anything bad will come from it.

message 24: by Taylor (new)

Taylor Bilkovsky | 3 comments I believe that Tom is the most dangerous one. He could be capable of anything tbh. I mean hes cheating on his wife, he broke Myrtle's nose, and he has bad anger issues. I wouldn't be surprised if he went and murdered someone. He likes to hid some things in which makes him a little more suspicious.

message 25: by Danielbrehm19 (new)

Danielbrehm19 | 4 comments In my opinion Tom would be the most dangerous character. I think the fact that he is very physical and is currently in an affair with his wife just makes him seem scary. He is a very controlling man who gets what he wants.

message 26: by Jake (new)

Jake Rincones | 2 comments Nick is definitely the most dangerous character. He is starting to drink a lot of alcohol and his opinions are so quick to change by his peers. He doesn't seem to cherish relationships with people like how he is going to break the relationship he is having with a girl back at his home town because Jordan came into the picture.

message 27: by Simon (new)

Simon Guben | 1 comments I think Tom is the most dangerous because everyone is intimidated by him and is afraid because he has money/power and a temper. It showed when he punched Daisy in the face.

message 28: by Heidi (new)

Heidi G | 5 comments I feel like Tom is the most dangerous character because of how he is described. When we first meet him his body is described as a cruel body. Someone who is described to have a cruel body is normally more apt to being physically harmful. Also, he shows us his abusive behavior with his mistress when he strikes her nose and breaks it. It is very evident that he isn't a very nice or caring person and with a cruel body on top of that it shows us he is very dangerous, sorta like a loose canon.

message 29: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Cutler | 5 comments I think that Gatsby is the most dangerous character because there is so much to him that nobody knows the truth about. He has so many dangerous connections to people, and I believe that could get him in trouble in the long run.

message 30: by Luke (new)

Luke | 6 comments I think those with money are they most dangerous, they live in a time where money means power and those who have the most power are those who belong in east and west egg, I personally think that the power is held by 2 people, Gatsby and Tom, both of them come from different backgrounds yet they ave tons of money and know lots of people who do whatever they want them to do, because they have money

message 31: by Caleb (new)

Caleb | 5 comments I personally think Tom is the most dangerous character he is physical man who can let his anger control him at times. He doesn't really care about others besides himself.

message 32: by Alejandro (new)

Alejandro | 4 comments Myrtle is the most dangerous so far, because she seems to be controlling Tom with her "beauty" making him doing things he wouldn't usually do for an important person in his life like Daisy, and she is the most likely to change Tom's attitudes later in the story and turn him against whoever she wants.

message 33: by Rylee (new)

Rylee Storms | 6 comments I think Tom Buchanan is easily the most dangerous character, both physically and mentally. He has so many connections in the city, and seems to know how to work people to get them to do what he wants, so if someone were to get on his bad side, it won't end up well. With his past the way it is, he has so much anger and takes it out on both Myrtle and Daisy, but is definitely predicted to do more harm than what he has already done.

message 35: by Cassidy (new)

Cassidy | 5 comments In my opinion, the most dangerous character would be Nick. As a narrator he is unreliable considering the fact he is bias, hypocritical, has zero trust in anyone, and favors only Gatsby at the end of it all. Nick is unpredictable and I'd really like to know what happens to his liking of Daisy or any one else in the story.

message 36: by Levi (new)

Levi Krenz | 5 comments I feel as if that Tom is the most dangerous character in the story thus far. When we first meet him the author describes him as a cruel person who does what he wants. He is later shown hitting his mistress breaking her nose.

message 37: by Tiffany (new)

Tiffany | 5 comments Tom is the most Dangerous character because he hit Daisy without a real, good reason to. He brought Tom to a party where he got dunk for the second time in his life. He doesn't cherish the life he has with his wife. He has huge anger issues and he only hurts everyone around him.

message 38: by Jonathon (new)

Jonathon Roy | 3 comments I believe Tom is the most dangerous character at this point of the book due to the description of his "cruel body" (that could possibly be used as foreshadowing) and how he only looks out for himself as he had mentioned in a conversation.

message 39: by Chase (new)

Chase | 5 comments Daisy has to be the most dangerous character. She seeks to get attention in the most self-centered way. I don't think she will come back into story, after not hearing much of her for a long time, in a good way.

message 40: by Shelbie (new)

Shelbie Dusendang | 1 comments I think nick is the most dangerous character because hes very quiet and we don't know much about him, hes more to him self. Plus I would like to see what kind of plan he has to get daisy back and how his friends are going to help him, and if its actually going to work.

message 41: by Blake (new)

Blake | 7 comments I think Meyer Wolfsheim is the most dangerous character. because of the unlawful activity's he partakes in. I Know that most every body there is a law breaker with there alcohol abuse. but this guy is a creep i know it.

message 43: by Karrie (new)

Karrie Zuidema | 5 comments I think that maybe Nick is the most dangerous character in the book so far because he seems to be the one who everyone goes to to tell information to thinking it will be safe. He has all these people telling him things about each other and he still talks to the others. I feel like soon he's going to end up telling someone information that isn't meant to get back to them. That's why I think Nick is the most dangerous.

message 44: by Derek (new)

Derek Myers | 5 comments I think Tom Buchanan is the most dangerous character because of his tendency to cheat and how it foreshadowed earlier he was a cruel person

message 45: by Nicole (new)

Nicole Briggs | 2 comments I think Gatsby is the most dangerous person in the whole book because he has the experience and money to do whatever he wants without having anyone step in front of him.

message 46: by Shelby (new)

Shelby Harmon | 5 comments I think the most dangerous is Tom Buchanan by far right now in the book. I say this because he is a abusive person and is kinda cocky in a way. He thinks he is such a great person but really he is just a rotten and abusing guy who needs to get his life in order and stop cheating.

message 47: by Mike (new)

Mike | 3 comments I think Nick is because he is deceiving and looks like he's innocent, and tries to convince you that he is.

message 48: by Jackson (new)

Jackson | 5 comments I think Tom is the most dangerous character. After he broke Daisy's nose that shows he has a short fuse which could come back later in the story.

message 49: by Thomas (new)

Thomas | 5 comments I think Tom is the most dangerous character because he cheat on his wife. He also grabs/hits other women and he is unpredictable.I think

message 50: by Lindsay (new)

Lindsay Flake | 5 comments I feel that Gatsby is the most dangerous, because everyone knows of him, but many people have never actually saw or talked to him. He throws these huge parties, but people never actually know where he is. He is just really mysterious.
