Chris Haught (haughtc) | 2450 comments Reserved for Active Serieses

message 3: by Chris , cookie guilt (new)

Chris Haught (haughtc) | 2450 comments Well, I finally completed Lirael, to score my first book in my Series Challenge.

Derkholm is a #1, so doesn't count towards my goal. It does open up Year of the Griffin as a possibility, though. I also started Retribution Falls, so another series started.

message 4: by Chris , cookie guilt (new)

Chris Haught (haughtc) | 2450 comments Finished Consider Phlebas. And yes, it's a #1, but I've previously read #2 in the Culture series.

message 5: by Chris , cookie guilt (new)

Chris Haught (haughtc) | 2450 comments Finishing The World of Ice & Fire: The Untold History of Westeros and the Game of Thrones tonight. More a related book than part of the straight up series, but definitely fits the category.

message 6: by Chris , cookie guilt (last edited Feb 03, 2015 09:03PM) (new)

Chris Haught (haughtc) | 2450 comments Finished Rhune, the beta read. It's a #1, but I'm counting it here because its series is a prequel to the Riyria Chronicles & Revelations, which I've read.

message 7: by Chris , cookie guilt (new)

Chris Haught (haughtc) | 2450 comments Finished An Autumn War and liked it a good bit. I'll start book #4 in a week or two.

message 8: by MrsJoseph *grouchy*, Bad Girls Deadlift (new)

MrsJoseph *grouchy* (mrsjoseph) | 5312 comments YOu're moving right along.

message 9: by Chris , cookie guilt (new)

Chris Haught (haughtc) | 2450 comments I'm listing Little Fuzzy for my series completion. Yes, it's a first in the series, but I just read Fuzzy Nation so it was really my second...

message 10: by Chris , cookie guilt (new)

Chris Haught (haughtc) | 2450 comments Finished Half the World tonight. Wow, this series kicks ass!

message 11: by Chris , cookie guilt (new)

Chris Haught (haughtc) | 2450 comments Finished The Price of Spring & Sourcery (finally!) to get two more series books.

message 12: by Chris , cookie guilt (new)

Chris Haught (haughtc) | 2450 comments Finished Heir to the Jedi last night.

message 13: by Chris , cookie guilt (new)

message 14: by Chris , cookie guilt (new)

Chris Haught (haughtc) | 2450 comments Finished Fool's Errand. Though it's the first in the Tawny Man series, it's the 7th overall in Hobb's Realms of the Elderlings.

message 15: by Dawn, Dawnerys, Mother of Modding (new)

Dawn (breakofdawn) | 860 comments Woohoo!

message 16: by Chris , cookie guilt (new)

Chris Haught (haughtc) | 2450 comments Finished Fool's Fate, which means I've completed the Tawny Man series.

message 17: by Dawn, Dawnerys, Mother of Modding (new)

Dawn (breakofdawn) | 860 comments Another woohoo! What did you think overall?

message 18: by Chris , cookie guilt (new)

Chris Haught (haughtc) | 2450 comments Dawn wrote: "Another woohoo! What did you think overall?"

Liked it quite a bit and ready for more..

message 19: by Dawn, Dawnerys, Mother of Modding (new)

Dawn (breakofdawn) | 860 comments Awesome! The Dragon books are fun. The first Fool&Fitz was some where between ok and good, but the second is great so far. I'm about 80% done, should be finishing soon.

message 20: by Chris , cookie guilt (new)

Chris Haught (haughtc) | 2450 comments The Dragon books are shorter too, I guess. The ebook page count for all 4 is shorter than that of the Tawny Man 3 books. Hehe

I'll probably start them soon, though I'm scared with a new narrator.

message 21: by Chris , cookie guilt (new)

Chris Haught (haughtc) | 2450 comments So I finished Dragon Keeper. Hmmm. Looks like I'll have to read all 4 to get any kind of closure at all.

message 22: by Dawn, Dawnerys, Mother of Modding (new)

Dawn (breakofdawn) | 860 comments It's really a two book series split into four. The first two and the last two really could have been one long book each :P

message 23: by Chris , cookie guilt (new)

Chris Haught (haughtc) | 2450 comments Ahh, that's not so bad then. At least she hasn't gone all GRRM on us.

message 24: by Chris , cookie guilt (new)

Chris Haught (haughtc) | 2450 comments I finished Dragon Haven. You were right, Dawn. Those two could have been one good book.

message 25: by Dawn, Dawnerys, Mother of Modding (new)

Dawn (breakofdawn) | 860 comments It's the same with the last two in the series. I'm not sure what Hobb was doing releasing it as 4 books. I think she just wanted a book to come out each year rather than every other year maybe?

message 26: by Chris , cookie guilt (new)

Chris Haught (haughtc) | 2450 comments Finished City of Dragons. One more Rain Wilds to go. I wonder which of the three narrators I'll get.

message 27: by Dawn, Dawnerys, Mother of Modding (new)

Dawn (breakofdawn) | 860 comments I can't believe you are almost caught up! All of my wildest dreams are coming true! :D

Side note, I have really lame dreams ;)

message 28: by Chris , cookie guilt (new)

Chris Haught (haughtc) | 2450 comments No, not lame. I'd say I'm pretty stoked about being associated with your wildest dreams. LOL

Anyway, yeah. Just one more dragon book and I'll be ready for Fitz & Fool.

message 29: by Chris , cookie guilt (new)

Chris Haught (haughtc) | 2450 comments Finished Blood of Dragons & The Death of Dulgath this weekend. That brings me up to 20 books, with my goal being 24.

As miserably as I'm doing in my overall reading counts, I'm actually knocking out a good number of series books.

message 30: by Chris , cookie guilt (last edited Sep 28, 2015 07:15PM) (new)

Chris Haught (haughtc) | 2450 comments Finished Pronto, which is listed as Raylan Givens #1, but I've already read Fire in the Hole: Stories to start that series.

message 31: by Chris , cookie guilt (new)

Chris Haught (haughtc) | 2450 comments Finished Judas Unchained, which completes the Commonwealth Saga duology. Damn those books are huge.

message 32: by Sarah (new)

Sarah I can't believe you listened to both of them! I've been eyeing Pandora's Star and I can't bring myself to try it.

message 33: by Chris , cookie guilt (new)

Chris Haught (haughtc) | 2450 comments Yeah, I think they're 40 hours + each. I listened to Pandora's in February so I had a good break between them. John Lee's reading is slow enough that you could speed him up a bit.

message 34: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Maybe someday :) Space Opera isn't my favorite anyway so that's part of the reason for my caution.

message 35: by Chris , cookie guilt (new)

Chris Haught (haughtc) | 2450 comments A good Hamilton to try would be Great North Road, which was my first. It's huge too, but it's a standalone and it's much more accessible to humans.

message 36: by Chris , cookie guilt (new)

Chris Haught (haughtc) | 2450 comments Finished The Ghost Brigades yesterday. That puts me one away from completing my 2015 goal.

message 37: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Awesome job Chris!

message 38: by Chris , cookie guilt (new)

Chris Haught (haughtc) | 2450 comments Finished Golden Son today, which completes my Series Challenge.

Incidentally, it also completes my Goodreads Challenge for the year.

message 39: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Nice job! That's very exciting :)
