That's very kind Elizabeth. Attentive, yes, but I'm clearly not always quite as efficient as I aspire to be!

I've made a start on Palace Walk and it's reminding me of big, classic nineteenth century novels with a political backdrop, Middlemarch, say, or Trollope's Pallisers series. Very immersive if you like this sort of thing (I do), with the added interest of an insight into a culture I know little about.

Sadly I think I'm going to struggle to fit this one in although I must say you make it sound mightily tempting RC

I know I'm not going to fit this in for May - it's a pretty crowded schedule for me. Sometime in June is possible, and I know the thread will remain open for me.

Val | 1707 comments I already have a copy of this one, unlike most of the other group books stuck on the shelves of closed libraries.

Haaze | 146 comments I may have missed this in the thread, but are you guys planning to read the whole Cairo trilogy or just Palace Walk? Just curious.

Just Palace Walk for now - but if there's an appetite for more anyone can set up a buddy read for the rest of the trilogy

Lovely to see you back round these parts again Haaze. I was just chuckling about your dentist anecdote over on the Stevie Smith thread.

I suspect that you are thinking about Rosina's comment! ;-)
