Danielle | 6 comments Read this book some time in the early 2000’s. I can remember it being set in the American Old West. The main female character needs to marry and produce an heir in order to secure her inheritance. Her father had this stipulation in his will. He wanted a son and made her feel inferior. Her ‘associates’ choose a guy for her to marry that has been falsely imprisoned so he agrees to it. She’s not interested in marriage but wants the inheritance, a ranch I think. So it’s a marriage of convenience.

She gets pregnant but miscarries and the two mains fall in love. The heroine carries a whip and only wears pants at a time it was unconventional for women to do so.
