Nicholas | 2 comments This is a science fiction book I read back around 2006. It was on its way out from my local library so I think it was older. The main character was a member of a canine like alien species. He was placed in charge of an experimental military team made up of humans and members of his race to see if they could work together. One of the more important members of the team was a human woman who had once been brainwashed by the enemy, but had been rescued before the book started. I don't remember much about the enemies, other than they were aliens. The canine aliens seemed to describe each other by a combination of colors, such as black on grey. I remember the plot was something like they were investigating a planet when they encounter the enemy and things go wrong. I'm not sure if this is part of a series but it seemed like it was. I really enjoyed this book when younger and would love to learn the title and authors name.

Nicholas | 2 comments Ah Ha! Turns out that is the first book of the series! The one I read was Stars Over Stars which comes after it. I didnt really read much back in the early days of highschool but this was one of the books that helped get me into it. Now I can go read it again, along with the one that came before it! Thank you so much for your help!

It’s a shame the author is no longer with us, I also enjoyed the Course of Empire books she wrote with Eric Flint.
The Course of Empire
Happy reading!
