I think they were more in lust than in love. I don't know why Jack thinks "she is the one". It seemed more like sexual chemistry than love to me. The romance portion of the story was tepid at best.
Agree with you totally. I never felt their chemistry and I hated him calling her Blondie, which I found offensive. I actually never warmed to Jack.
I'm trying to think back to why her marriage didn't work out: wasn't it that she and Mitch cared for each other but that the bedroom vista was rather barren for them? I can't remember the insights from the previous book.If this was somewhat correct, then their hot attraction and good working together worked for me. I'm not usually the insta love reader, but I have to admit this is what happened the first time I saw my husband (blush, blush -- innocently, at that!)
Mitch and Megan went through FBI training together and were friends. I think they loved each other, but not enough for the high stress marriage they had.Jack had been a loner for so long and when he met Megan, who put her life on the line for him, he was smitten. Beauty, courage and a kick ass woman. Tough for him to resist. Megan has been focused on her job and not much else so a guy who respects what you do and who you are is almost irresistible.
I liked the romance, but I think marriage so soon is a bad idea. They clicked during the case because they admired how the other worked. It's going to be a lot different without the adrenaline rush going on.

Mitch and Megan never got beyond being good friends. Their marriage was convenient but lacked passion and romance. They both came to that conclusion and amicably agreed to go their separate ways.
