The Hildago chief of police, Art Perez, clearly resents Jack Kincaid. What did you determine was the source of his issues with him?

[Robin]

I don't think that he liked Jack having the respect of the locals in Hildalgo. Other than the cops and the local drug dealers, everyone else seemed to get along with Jack and respect him.

[Jonetta]

I think Perez resented Jack and his team having skills and other’s respect. I also believe he’s a dirty cop and when Jack got too close to his illegal network, he was willing to get rid of him.

When we first walk into this situation, it's obvious that Perez has something unreasonable about Jack, but nothing specific is noted.

I would like to have had more details in this hatred that Perez embodied, such that Jack made certain to live outside the town lines.

I wonder if this will be revisited because it certainly was adequately explained or resolved.

I agree that Jack and his team had the respect of the locals and skills that placed them well above the local cops and that could be a factor. What specific situation made the animosity between the Chief and Jack so bad was never discussed.

I think Art was jealous of Jack and his abilities. Jack made him look like an incompetent fool (more so than he did himself).
I also think that Art is a dirty cop with ties to the drug trade and he wants Jack out of the picture before he learns the truth.

I agree, Melissa. Being jealous is one thing but going so far as to attempt to murder someone is way out of bounds. This guy has something serious to hide. And, he’s in the pocket of Carlos Hernandez, a known gun runner.

I agree with all of you. I thought he was jealous of Jack and his team but was also dirty and definitely was hiding something.
