I read the previous books a while ago, so I didn't remember her character. Megan struck me as an FBI Agent who didn't want to step on the local investigation unless they weren't doing their job. She could see who was willing to work with the feds and who was going to try to ignore them. She's very much a team player whether it be with the local police or with her own FBI agents.
Her being a team player came across really strongly here. All I remember from the earlier book (Mitch Bianchi’s) was that she was by the book and no nonsense. I also liked the fact that she and Mitch remained friends after their divorce. I can see that about her. She doesn’t seem to hold grudges and has fair sensibilities. Megan’s good at her job, too.
I did remember about Mitch and Megan being on good terms with each other. This book clearly paints Megan as a team player, yet one who has been trained to trust her instincts (within the rules, mostly).
Isn't it nice to have a heroine who was previously married to someone she could remain friends with? So many of the heroines come from a marriage where they were either abused or just used by the hero to put him thru college, etc. It was nice to read about a normal relationship.
I also thought she was by the book, team player and driven. It surprised me that she let Jack into the investigation without much fuss. I would have thought she would have tried harder to keep him out. Maybe the Chief of Police being such an a-- helped Jack get accepted more readily.
I like Megan. She's strong and determined. She knows her job and is good at it. I agree. With Megan being so "by the book" it was surprising that she let Jack help so easily.
