I have been relentlessly searching for this book for over a week now. What I remember clearly is, it is not a harlequin book. I read it before 2012, so it was not published in the last 4-6 years.
It is not Scottish, does not involve a maid or a child. No one is widowed, and has nothing to do with theme of war. So no war hero, or soldier etc. I hope someone is able to help me!

I definitely read it around 2007-2010 time frame, and it had the vibes of the newer Historical Romance writing. Meaning it wasn't a Julie Garwood type of book. More like a Eloise James book. I do not remember anything about the book cover or remember anything else. What always stood out to me was how the book begins and the rest of what I explained in the description. I have posted in about 6 different places and have spent countless of hours searching. I always have a list of authors that it is NOT from. lol
I don't know if to put that list here. I also have a few other ladies helping me and we've had no luck. Thank you for taking the time to respond!!

Also, I should add that at the time I was book cover snob, so I am 100% sure it was not a Harlequin book. And the cover must of had a gorgeous woman with a gorgeous gown or a cover like Julia Quinn.

Also, the time in the book was a regency / Victorian Era. It had no Military theme and no medieval theme, I am completely sure of that.

I checked the lists and unfortunately didn't find it. :( I am looking through lists of Georgian and Victorian Era.
How do I find lists of HR broken engagements?
This book has a few tropes. A broken Engagement, Hero believes Heroine cheated, H and h caught in Bed.
I am at my whits end. Ive looked over 800 books and I'm so sad, I think I won't find it.

Also I read this book in in 2012 or before. I would say 2007-2010. 100% NOT from 2013 to present date, so the book had to been published in 2012 or prior.

SPOILER ALERT****
The book begins with H and h engaged and deeply in love. They already are having sex. H is going to meet with h at their secluded spot but when H gets there one of the workers (I believe the gardener) from his estate is on top of her (fully clothed) and trying to kiss her. She is giggling like crazy bc she thinks the whole situation is absurd, but H thinks she’s been cheating on him. He walks away and leaves. His mom kicks her out and he never listens to h’s side of the story.
Years later they see each other at a country house party where every is staying for a few days. I think a sexy closet scene happens. Where H makes it clear he’s only sexually interested, he’d never marry her now. And still refuses to listen to her. And she’s still crazy in love and decides to have a bit of him for the last time.
The Villian, who has set up h (I won’t say who it is) is at this party too. And tries to set up h again with another man in her bed. But that plan fails and instead as H and h are in the middle of their orgasms, someone opens the door to the room and everyone sees them together.... I don’t remember the rest.
