Shelby (stang_lee) | 1983 comments It's absolutely a train wreck. I find myself pulled down the rabbit hole regularly and then have to forcibly drag myself back and realize that the last thing I should do is get caught in the likeminded bubble. It's such a political and polarizing topic right now and so many things make me angry so trying to find the happy in places where I can.

[[ Frankie ]] (freedbyfiction) | 524 comments Hey, Jane... this might be a silly question, but I just want to verify. For the week 5 task of no people or animals on the cover... does it have to be an ‘actual’ person that we can’t have on the cover? Or just the image of a person in general? For example, would the Statue of Liberty be considered a ‘person’, even though it’s a statue/monument? I just didn’t know, since it ‘looks’ like a person. Here’s the book I’m referring to...
In Five Years by Rebecca Serle

A monument/statue is fine. An image/photo etc of person would not work.

The date you add to your shelves (any shelf) for the first part of the task (added to your shelves as a TBR book more than 1 year ago).

No worries - I've been upstairs dealing with years of dust and crap because my husband wanted to move his office to the other side of the loft. I said if he wanted to we had to go through EVERYTHING, all the stuff stacked in corners or stuffed in drawers, and get rid of all the obsolete crap. Though I probably didn't say crap... I'm dying from the dust! Though it does feel good to clean out the - I'll just say crap again! 🤣

OMG - we have a similar issue. Moved out our old desk (falling apart) and replaced with a bookshelf but now all the desk drawers are sitting on the floor waiting for H to go through them. Down to 3 drawers from 8, but they have been in front of the fireplace for more than a month. At least with the cold weather that has hit, it will force the clean up!! I want a fire tonight!!

message 131: by MountainKat, Moderator (new)

MountainKat | 31926 comments So crazy you are getting cold weather! Though I guess we had snow only a few weeks ago. 🤷🏻‍♀️ We have another heat wave forecast for next week. It isn't so bad on the mountain, but down below it can get HOT! I guess the quarantine is good for something. 😉

Sounds like your hubby is making progress - I literally have boxes in the basement labeled P's stuff. Boxes filled with things he never sorted, but didn't want me to throw out. After awhile I boxed it up and shoved it away. We've been here almost 15 years and I think there is one from our old house! We were tossing dining receipts from 2007 today, from restaurants he doesn't even remember! 🤦🏻‍♀️

Ha, this is hilarious! My hubby is quite the pack rat also but I'm not as nice as you two. I wait until he's not paying attention and throw that crappola in the garbage. God forbid we rent a large bin for the move because I can guarantee none of his crap will make it through that!! :) Of course he could retaliate and tell me no one needs 52 blushes, 32 hightlighters and a drawer full of foundation.....I would kill him!!

🤣🤣🤣🤣 I wish I could do that!!!

H won't let me throw out an organic back-strap molasses jar that's barely been touched that we bought over 15 years ago!!! I can't work out why he wants it... 🙄 I've tried so many times...

Jane (PS) | 24367 comments Week 10

Option 1:
6. Beautiful day - read a book from the following lists:
Gay Beach Summery Reads
Best Summer Romance Books
What to Read in Summer

You may also read a book that clearly notes that it is set in 'Spring' or 'Summer' in the precis/blurb or it is included in the title (eg Boys of Summer). Unless it is clear and easy to verify, I will not accept the book.

Option 2:
Key date - 8 November 2019
A book on your team mates 'read' list AND rated at least 3 stars and read on or after the key date.

Option 3:
Pass
This can only be used once each 5 weeks. Only one team mate can use this option each week.

This is the last week that a pass can be used. Next week is the last week of the challenge and you cannot use a pass in that week.

Hi Kathy - I removed it due to how hard it would be to prove, however you can use that part of the task ONLY IF the book shows that it is set in spring or summer in the precis/blurb or book title.

I've updated the task to reflect this update.

Hi Jane,

Sorry, just want to clarify - there's a book and this is in the precis:

doesn't say it's set in summer, but has summer in the precis. would that work?

message 150: by MountainKat, Moderator (new)

MountainKat | 31926 comments Jane would The Real Deal work for this theme?

From the précis:

"April Hamilton wants you to know she hasn't been on Craigslist since that time she sold her futon after college. She doesn't even spend that much time online. And even if she did, she would not be looking up personal ads. But going home alone for her family's summer reunion is an invitation for every single relative to butt into her personal life. She simply can't handle another blind date with the butcher, the baker or the candlestick maker from her hometown. So when she finds the Craigslist ad for a boyfriend-for-hire, she's ready to pay to play."
