Today, I shall mostly be...
In my neighbour's defence it is a fact that every customer gives this Catio absolutely rave reviews but nevertheless everyone says the Assembly Manual is truly terrible and utterly useless and they all recommend using the video on Assembly instead.I've come to realise that you either have a passion for and intuitive skills with assembling flat-pack ... or you don't ... and the neighbour that was volunteered by his wife (who is my at home hairdresser) was determined to try to understand the Manual and seemed to be struggling to try to follow the video on the very tiny screen of his phone.
I think he soon realised that life is too short to agree to things like this just because your wife had said you could do it and it was going to take about 5 to 6 hours of his life that he would never get back again! ... LOL!!! ;o>
The (great?) news is today another neighbour whose garden backs onto ours asked my Mum what was happening in our garden yesterday and he has volunteered himself to come first thing on Thursday morning to have a go at it.
I know he did a lot of work by himself on his recent two storey extension and seems to be re-landscaping his garden at the moment so I think he might be more suited to giving it a go and I'll obviously try to do my bit to help as much as can. I have watched the video several times and I feel I have a pretty good idea on how straightforward it will turn out to be.
I say (great?) news because there is a possibility that he too might take one look and decide to give up on it as well ;o>
Serial wrote: "I had to google 'Catio', it's a new one of me!Good invention though, allowing outside time safely.
There's a definite case for some human beings being contained in the same way."
It is on this website ... https://www.omlet.co.uk/shop/cat_prod...
It cost a fortune but, then again, so do most of the better quality wooden frame ones and I know they will require regular repair and maintenance ... which will be even more expensive in the long run and be beyond all of our capabilities due to my parents being in their mid 80's now and me being disabled. So I think it was a wise investment ;o>
The outdoor gym kit that goes with the Catio has a delay on delivery and so it won't be arriving until the first week in July ;o>

The mental images this conjures of Kitty and equipment...h a ha
I have been feeling a little bit sad on looking back to the years of being a teenager. We always have had dogs except for when I was eight and I fell in love with a 5 week old kitten that we unexpectedly ended up in bringing all the way home from a holiday in Scotland. We bought all the basic kinds of cat food for him to choose from (I remember there was only 4 or 5 brands available back then) and a couple of stuffed toys too ... but there was pretty much nothing at all for sale for cats that was anything like there is today.
I don't think my beloved cat ever felt deprived though? We still managed to work out how best to take care of him and to make our own entertainment without the wonders of Google to search for what a cat most likes to do with their day or what is the very best in colours to buy for a cat's treat bowl ... preferably blue or green apparently(!) ... but I can't help feeling sad that he could have had so much more in his lifetime.
The Internet now makes it so easy to shop around and get to know so much more about cats than I ever did before. Last time around, it was a few books from the Library on how to take care of a cat and they were so lacking in the kind of information that is immediately available at the click of a button today.
That said, our last cat grew up completely devoted and bonded to his 'Dad' ... our much older dog ... who taught him pretty much everything that he knew including how to chew on a bone, fetch a ball, the best place to dig huge holes in the garden which almost drove my Dad insane, how to stand his ground and chase off all the other cats in the neighbourhood and how open the fridge door ;o>
And we took both of them everywhere with us including on our long family holidays in Devon and Cornwall. Both on harnesses and leads happily exploring while walking for miles along the cliff paths together. And it was still a wonderful and magical time even if my first cat never got to know what on earth a Catio is ;o>
Cats have trained us very well. Making us invent the internet to post their pictures and build Catios. :D
To be honest with you, I like Cats, but I am not someone who spends hours searching out and watching Cat Videos in my spare time. No, what really hits the sweet spot for me every time is any video of an adorable little Bat being hand fed a Banana ... AWWWWWWW!!! ... ;o>

Today I've been cleaning up the compost from the balcony where the magpies have been throwing it out in the hunt for food and netting the pot to try and prevent them. Also tidied up the cable spaghetti behind the cupboard with the tv box, router etc., to the sound of a Mexican band my brother recommended, The Warning. G was at the university, so I turned up the volume (neighbours are away) and had a bit of a treat. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xxkPT...
Played some Sisters of Mercy as well. I love Dominion.

A very long time ago, Helen and I were out at the shops and came across a place selling band t shirts. The one for Sisters was great, black with a highly colourful logo and we liked it so much I bought it for Helen. Neither of us knew the band, so we were fingers crossed that their music was as good as the t shirt. Success all round.

A great song and a great band, Isabella ... x ... ;o>
Today I have mostly been full of immense gratitude for the incredible kindness, impressive speed, and the remarkable Manual reading and assembly skills of our neighbours because ...WE HAVE A CATIO!!! ... HALLELUJAH!!! ;o>
To be precise, we actually have all of the Catio assembled except for the door ... as our neighbour is heading off to the airport tonight to go on a mini break to Bilbao with friends and he still had a few odd jobs (including the packing of his suitcase!) that he wanted to get done before he left ;o>
Therefore he turned up promptly at 8am this morning. He was fully prepared to work on the Catio for at least 6 hours today if absolutely necessary but, between him and his lovely young daughter (who turned up at 9am also wanting to help in any way that she could), the Catio was almost completely built by 11.30am! ... and we insisted on him leaving it be then so he could still make the most of the rest of his day.
He will back in the UK on Monday and says he can finish the door on Tuesday and make sure everything is absolutely perfect all ready for Pixie who will be with us quite soon after her second lot of Vaccinations have been completed on the 13th.
My neighbour's daughter is such a genuinely lovely and caring girl. She constantly checked the Manual, calmly and patiently directed and even also corrected her Dad several times on exactly which panels needed to be connected in which order and also spent over two hours sat on our lawn checking on the video and very carefully positioning clip after clip into the correct positions. She even tidied everything up as they worked without any kind of prompting from her Dad. She has a real eye for attention to detail and precision and is clearly already an expert at the art of assembling flat-pack at the tender age of only nine years old!
I have exceptionally high hopes for our future generations whenever I come across young children like this ;o>

Wonderful neighbours.
Glad it worked out for you.
Looking forward to tonight's bottle of Merlot and my gorgeous Supernatural boys, Hopefully I'll get to see a couple of episodes before Miss Snowdrop goes and wakes Daddy up.
LOL!!! ... how does she wake him up?!!I have an image of her silently creeping up behind him in his chair and suddenly producing a large balloon that she pops with a specially sharpened claw ... ;o>
After his Saturday afternoon at the club D has his dinner and goes for a nap. Snowdrop disappears usually around the back of 8, sometimes earlier, and comes back and Daddy comes trailing in half asleep behind her. She dances on top of him and does her mad purring into his ear. I tell you Suzy, it's bloody loud. Comes right from her belly. 😻 The best of it is she has this habit now of going into the bed she just got D out of and falling fast asleep.
That's hilarious! ;o>Awww, and she is using him to warm the bed for her as well?!! ... LOL!!! ;o>

I'm getting worse, especially on these light mornings.
Today I am just happy the council and EU elections are over, no more annoying canvassers calling by.
Here in Kerry the Healy Raes swept the board as usual.
Google them if you want, quite some dynasty.
Well, we have the joy of a general election. I’m half inclined to vote for anyone who actually makes it up our drive to canvass our support, although it’s bound to be someone I wouldn’t vote for under torture. On the other hand, would I vote for any of them? 🫤 (I do vote, on the use it or lose it principle but sometimes it’s hard).
I've never missed a vote since my first General Election in 1979 and that didn't end well. Our constituency has changed so our commuter village has been moved from a Tory/Labour battleground to what looks like a Tory safe seat (if there's any such thing in this election but over 60% vs just under 20% would take a landslide, an earthquake and a nuclear detonation?). Since I've mostly lived in 'safe' seats my vote has usually felt wasted so I'm all for PR but I'm guessing right now that's the furthest thing from Starmer's mind given the predicted outcome?
We have the 'single transferable vote' in Ireland.I really like it.
You put your number 1, 2, 3 preference, and so on. You can list your preference for all the candidates, or just 1.

Then again, Serial, such a system might give far right or left seats and a permanent disruptive presence in Parliament rather than just at election time? Not fancying the thought of Nigel Fuhrage, MP.
Voting for same man (local elections) for some... 20 years, he brings manure for our allotment whenever we ask, well, not at night. He is a local farmer. Which part he is in? Doesn't matter. Starts with "fine" I think.'0)

I can't forget his appalling display in the European Parliament after the leave vote. (Not that I was a fan before!)
Indulging in our weekly g&t, with nibbles. One of these weekends, we’ll be able to take it outside but so far this year it’s been far too cold!
In a good mood this morning. Feeding my Shein puppy for a month finally paid off and I won my Care Bears makeup box. Woo Hoo!!
Collette wrote: "In a good mood this morning. Feeding my Shein puppy for a month finally paid off and I won my Care Bears makeup box. Woo Hoo!!"Hiyah Collette, I think I may be missing something in my translation ... as I've heard of Shein but have never got around to looking at it ... but I am right in guessing that you are feeding some kind of virtual Puppy reward system and it entitles you to claim bonus credits and freebies?
Hi Suzy. Yeah. You choose a prize and feed and play with your puppy over 29 days. I lost out on the prize first time I played it (a pair of boots) but won my gift set (£45 to buy) with one day left. Maybe it was cos I named it...wee Sandy. Trying for magenta suede UGG style boots now. The Care Bears gift set is gorgeous. Each of the palettes has a furry lid. I had it on my wish list away back.

Oooh fluffy AND furry! ... I have a feeling Little Miss Snowdrop is going to love playing with that! ;o>
Putting rafters up on new shed roof all day. Shed turned out rather humungous, looking forward to getting the sheeting on the roof and sides. Pic on profile.

LOL!
It's not the size of your shed, it's what's in it.
One side is going to be a workshop/tool store/man shed getway, so strictly no shite from any other family member will be tolerated in there :) :0
Got the rest of the rafters on today, tomorrow the felt and battens.....knackered now...
Serial wrote: "One side is going to be a workshop/tool store/man shed getway, so strictly no shite from any other family member will be tolerated in there :) :0"Yeah ... just make sure that you put the lock mechanism on your side of the door or you could be spending a very looooooong time in there if you ever have a fall-out with any family members! ... ;o>
Today I FINALLY have built a large and extremely heavy wardrobe ... at last! ... after buying it almost 4 years ago then having a sudden relapse that meant I could barely stand up or move around for a couple of years ... all done! ... finished! ... HALLELUJAH!!! ... ;o> ;o> ;o>
Hooray for Suzy! Champion flat pack assembler! I still can't believe you got the kit up the stairs! Hope all the parts were there...
Anita wrote: "well done Suzy ,I built a chest of drawers once that was difficult enough."It seems even heavier than if it was made of solid wood! I don't remember ever having any flat-pack panels as heavy as these were to lift and hold and put together! ;o>
I don't envy Serial one bit on all of his incredibly hard work and all the time that will be needed to finish building his Shed!
