Mine is 1200kw, works with small tea kettle (they are very demanding!), one on the photo is 1l and 900w, uses 12% of battery power to get boiled.
Power station itself to recharge takes one and half hour, 7year warranty. Can recharge when driving a car, just have to buy special cable. 15kg weight, so my spouse got no problem lifting.
Decided to buy device after some stormy night we couldn't get coffee in the morning! eugh...

oh, and you can connect telly, fridge, smartphone, whatever doesn't exceed 1200kw. Well there are more powerful stations for sale of course (heavier and more expensive though).

Val H. | 22141 comments Sounds like a worthwhile back-up. Better than faffing around with candles and matches and a Primus stove. At home we have gas heating, cooking and hot water; electric reverse cycle heating/cooling and can still use microwave and single induction plate if gas were out. But the portability of that device makes all the difference.

It wasn't me, Suzy. I have enough trouble with the page changes. My phone doesn't like them!

Collette | 6187 comments Perfect Saturday night coming up...a can of lager, a bottle of red, and my gorgeous Supernatural boys.

message 4260: by suzysunshine7 (new)

suzysunshine7 | 16038 comments Is that the perfect order for having a perfect Saturday night, Collette? ... or can you enjoy your gorgeous Supernatural boys first and then have a bottle of red followed by a can of lager?

message 4261: by suzysunshine7 (new)

suzysunshine7 | 16038 comments I have just enjoyed a takeaway delivery of Chicken & Chips with Hot Curry Sauce which is about to be followed by a couple of glasses of water with a generous squirt of Robinsons Mini Summer Fruits and a big slice of the last of Mum's Lemon Meringue birthday cake while watching a couple of repeat episodes of 'Mortimer & Whitehouse: Gone Fishing'

A nice end to what has been a really rough and highly stressful day of worrying about friends in Kharkiv.

I know what you mean, Isabella. Thanks to my hip arhtritis, prostate problems, blood clotting and recent bonus - plantar fasciitis, been advised (by youtube, not doctors!) to change the diet, particular attention paying inflammation related food, well basically all sugary stuff, cakes, sweets, fizzy drinks, white bread, ketchup etc. So, trying to fool myself, adding jam instead of sugar to my tea now. Dark chocolate sometimes, heheh...

message 4270: by Val (new)

Val H. | 22141 comments If it's any help, Post, I had plantar fasciitis many years ago and got advice from an old school physiotherapist. When you first wake in the morning, stay in bed flexing the affected foot backwards and forwards to stretch and warm up the ligaments in the sole of your foot. When you get up, immediately slip your foot into a shoe/slipper/slide that has an arch support and a slightly raised heel. Also, when sitting down/relaxing fill a small glass or plastic bottle with warm/hot water (e.g. a 300ml soft drink/fruit juice bottle with a screw on top. Roll your foot over the bottle as long as it's warm. Helped me a lot!

Sounds difficult, Post. I’m lucky that most of the stuff you mention doesn’t bother me all that much but I do like a bowl of pasta or a baked potato every so often. Curry just isn’t the same without rice and naan! We’ve both been pretty good and successful for the past year but we’ve hit the dreaded plateau in spite of all our efforts, so this weekend is a treat in the hope of fooling our metabolism. Wish us luck.

suzysunshine7 | 16038 comments One of my biggest bugbears over the years has been wanting to reduce some of excess Sugar in my daily diet yet not being able to tolerate that horrendously nasty Sweetener taste I can't get past in so many reduced Sugar and Sugar-free products. It is such a foul taste that I always seem to pick up on even when no-one else seems to notice it.

I had a look around the Internet and found that I am not alone in being someone who is not able to taste many kinds of Sweeteners as being even vaguely sweet and pleasant and the suggestion was to try out different kinds until you hopefully find one that works for you.

Bearing this in mind I recently took a chance on trying out a tiny bottle of Robinsons Mini Squash and, to my absolute amazement, it actually tasted like a delicious Fruit Squash with just a very slight aftertaste that creates what my mouth interprets as a bit of an extra fruity sherbety kind of zing to the flavour.

I now buy in bulk from Amazon and have an entire drawerful of tiny bottles in every flavour! - LOL!!! ;o>

message 4273: by suzysunshine7 (new)

suzysunshine7 | 16038 comments Of course, I now have to live with the terrible guilt of using so much of something that comes in such tiny plastic bottles! ... and, sadly, I don't honestly believe in all the great statistics and positive reports about Plastic Recycling in our area as most of our rubbish seems to go all together in the same collection lorries and then it gets dumped in the same huge skips when it gets to landfill ;o<

There is always a catch to coming across something good, isn't there?

Thanks Val, I tried most of these things, stopped on two of them - rolling feet over covid 19 looking ball and stretching, plus after reducing sugar quantities feeling pretty well.

Still consuming lotsa fruits, buying apples and bananas, growing gooseberries, strawberries, blackcurrants, from leftovers making jams. In july going picking blueberries to the hillside bogs 20 min. drive from us.

suzysunshine7 | 16038 comments Today I shall be mostly trying to get a few jobs done around the house that I've either been struggling to get done or putting off attempting for a very long time.

I STILL have a large wardrobe languishing in flat pack condition in the spare/little bedroom that I really want and need and bought way back in 2020(!). Spoiler alert ... it won't be assembled any time today either! ... but it is written down as a priority job on my incredibly long TO DO List and I am absolutely determined to get it put together this year.

Today is clearing rooms of several piles of various things my Dad has got out over the last few weeks and then left abandoned. We have an assortment of pieces of paperwork and DIY tools tucked in beside the sofa for some reason he has already long forgotten about and at least half of the contents of the Writing Desk lying around the Dining Room.

I also want to move some furniture around as we had a Painter & Decorator here over Monday to Wednesday so everything had to be moved around to give her enough space to paint the Walls and Ceilings.

suzysunshine7 | 16038 comments All of these plans are also going to be attempts to deal with the constant fear and high stress levels over many friends in Ukraine who are going through absolute hell right now. But as always my heart and thoughts are pretty much still with everyone ... and especially those in and around Kharkiv and Kherson ... x

My laptop remains open and logged into Facebook in case I receive any urgent messages that need immediate attention and action.

message 4277: by suzysunshine7 (last edited May 16, 2024 09:25AM) (new)

suzysunshine7 | 16038 comments Emergency evacuations in Kharkiv are still ongoing as the Russians continue to advance. We already know that, if they can't take over and occupy an area, then their only other mission is to completely destroy it and to capture and kill everyone who is still living there. There is always a horrific plan of action to try to ensure that there are no living witnesses to the terrible war crimes that are constantly being committed.

Such unbelievable courage and resilience and incredible and extraordinary acts of sheer selflessness and true heroism are the everyday emotions and activities amongst so many of the animal volunteers that we support. As everyone who can do so flees for their lives, these volunteers step up and risk their own lives by driving or walking under shelling and gunfire into hot spot hell-zones to rescue and save the many animals that were left behind.

I am always in complete awe and admiration of all these truly amazing people. They help to restore my faith in, and hope for, humanity and still hold onto believing in good prevailing over evil in times like these.

Our own group of international members on Facebook has been working closely with hundreds of verified animal shelters and volunteers all over Ukraine for over two years now. We continue to do our best to help to support as many as we can with our combined donations, by funding and then distributing essential humanitarian aid supplies, and by creating and maintaining networks of contacts throughout Ukraine and all around the world.

If anyone on here ever feels like maybe they would like to join us, help us with a donation, or would like to help us by spreading awareness of what we do by sharing our group details with family and friends ... then we will always be extremely grateful and you will find us here on Facebook ...

Brass Neck | 3979 comments Listening to music and looking for a break in the heavy rain to walk Minnie while I wait for some tardy feedback so I can start marking online. The examiners' meeting was on Saturday, the Principal Examiner is a verbose windbag who interrupts anyone else who wants to make a point so you just shut up and try not to fall asleep or throw the laptop at the wall as she drones on restating everything several times over while occasionally swearing at her (the camera and mic are on mute.....I hope). It is now 4 days since that meeting, I submitted my 10 standardisation scripts yesterday but my team leader hasn't been okayed yet so she can't okay me and......aaaargh! I only work in two intense periods in Summer and in the run up to Xmas - I don't mind the work but the waiting around is a killer. Might have to pick up a duster if this carries on!

Brass Neck | 3979 comments So the examiners' meeting was Saturday but it wasn't until Monday evening that a 'button' was pressed to allow access first to some practice scripts where you see the Principal's mark and comments after you submit and try to get your head round the differences, fully 2 days after the meeting. I did my 10 standardisation scripts on Tuesday morning as did my team leader. She couldn't feedback to me until she'd been okayed which was this morning and I got feedback to start the proper marking late this afternoon - 5 wasted days of mostly sitting around and checking the bloody computer! What faffage was going on is a mystery to me.

suzysunshine7 | 16038 comments Well, yesterday was fun (!)

We have recently rescued a stray kitten after we watched in shock horror as she scaled the side wall of a neighbour's house to end up precariously perched on a tiny and thin window ledge just under the attic roof ineffectively trying to jemmy the closed window open with her tiny paws. She is currently residing in a wonderful local Cat Shelter while waiting to see if a previous owner will come forward to try to claim her and is also being fully Vet checked, vaccinated, microchipped and sterilised.

We realised in the 2 days and nights we had her at home with us that she was an adorable lovebug desperate for cuddles and fell in love with her. Now the Shelter is almost ready to put her up for adoption and we have pretty much begged to have her back with us.

However a requirement of adoption was to have a Catio as we live on a small side road that connects to one of the main roads that runs through our Village and it can become a very busy road during peak hours due to all the commuter and school traffic that passes by.

Well, I had to go online and pick out the very best (and the most expensive!) Catio, didn't I? And it arrived late on Friday night in no less than eight boxes all ready for self-assembly.

A kind neighbour offered to spare me the anticipated exhaustion and huge pain levels of trying to assemble it myself ... lots of mesh metal panels with literally hundreds of tiny plastic clips! ... but, after unpacking half of it and spending an hour seeming to be totally bemused and bewildered by the manual, the assembly video, the photos and instructions I had printed out for him (as I was having a really bad day that unfortunately meant I couldn't manage to leave my bedroom) ... he told my Mum that it seemed to be beyond his capability and so he repacked it all and went home.

So today is a day of resting as much as possible as tomorrow I am going to be building a Catio!

Wish me luck!!! ;o>

Yes, in general bands doing endless covers mostly bore me, on the other hand seeing so many young lads still into Rock gave me lots of pleasure (and hope).
