Today finished P.Jackson's "The Beatles: Get Back" part one, loved it. Also finished Stephen Davis "Old Gods Almost Dead", it's a Stones biography, got to the time Mick Taylor left in 1974, not interested with the rest. Started https://www.amazon.co.uk/Out-Control-..., good stuff too.
As you can see am firmly stuck in 60s-70s.

2 bottles of wine in one night would have me on my back these days, Post. Had my rose and a couple of cans of cider. "The Dorm" and "When A Stranger Calls Back" were both pretty enjoyable, but "Christmas Slay"...such bad acting.
"2 bottles of wine in one night would have me on my back these days" - OK noted, now your address please.........?
I was going to point out that the phrase legs akimbo would have had the dear departed Lez in apoplexy (or mild umbrage at least) since she was emphatic that only arms could be akimbo (hands on hips, elbows out) but it would seem that respectable dictionaries accept that either pair of limbs can be akimbo (or in C's case after deux bouteilles de vin, all four!).https://www.merriam-webster.com/dicti...
Never mind legs akimbo, be grateful you don't have Nick Caves Squirrel issues.....rofl...https://www.theredhandfiles.com/what-...
Tonight's plans...wrap a couple of Christmas pressies with the help of Snowdrop, and watch Aliens on dvd with a can or 2 of cider.
Baa baa Black Sheep. Picking up a whole Lamb tomorrow, well in bags...... for the freezer.
Garlic & Rosemary, roast Lamb coming soon.
Yum

Honestly, you never realise when you're married, the repercussions. The hassle and fake retching noises you'll have to endure. When all you're doing is preparing some Lamb Livers at the kitchen table. and soaking in milk for a tasty toast topping tomorrow.
Some people.
Were the lambs actually dead when they kindly donated their livers? And what about some fava beans and a nice Chianti with 'em?
Brass Neck wrote: "Were the lambs actually dead when they kindly donated their livers? And what about some fava beans and a nice Chianti with 'em?"Where's the heart is the question? Can't beat roast Lamb heart.
Offaly good.
We're now thinking to get our own Sheep next year, Lamb for the freezer, Lamb to sell, all good :0
I once fell for the half-a-lamb-ready-for-the-freezer con. Unless a standard lamb has four necks and two legs, what I got was what was left over after the best bits of two lambs had been sold to preferred customers.

It was all labelled, and none missing.
Now I'm done chasing poopy fur Snowdrop around the place my only plans are some afternoon music and the 2019 remake of Black Christmas tonight, with a bottle of red or white.
Nah, she did a poo and having long hair she came out of the litter box with a streak of it on her fur, and she hates getting her butt cleaned.
Brass Neck wrote: ""poopy fur" - is she having bowel issues?"We used to have a Cat that had stinking farts.
I used to call it Shitbag. Which got me no end of grief.
Little fecker stank.
Collette wrote: "Nah, she did a poo and having long hair she came out of the litter box with a streak of it on her fur, and she hates getting her butt cleaned."How do you clean her butt? Cutlery brush?

Just remember D's toothbrush, is always an option if he isn't up to scratch with the Christmas gifts.
Call this a Red Weather Warning?Bit breezy, other than that.......a damp squib.
Kids all off school, we're all meant to stay inside allday. :0
Usual over egging of small squall.

A bit like the omicron panic in the UK. Never mind 'following the science' (the WHO said at the weekend that nobody in the 38 countries where the variant is rife has yet died, and the evidence does suggest that it's a mild thing at worst), just batten down the hatches in the bunker if the media start squawking that we're all doomed. I don't object too hard to giving them a couple of weeks to get things straight, but if it is a damp squib the restrictions must go again. Who was it said 'we have to learn to live with covid'?
"Who was it said 'we have to learn to live with covid'?" - living with something usually means making sensible adjustments to ameliorate a problem not ignoring it completely and going round infecting everyone because, well, you're a free-born Brit and no-one can't tell you nuffink. Blind Col is 'living with' inoperable throat cancer and his adjustments are many and onerous not least of which is being fed and watered through a tube, he can't just blow off the latter because it's a pesky constraint as he'd die a lot quicker.https://www.theguardian.com/commentis...
Brass Neck wrote: ""Who was it said 'we have to learn to live with covid'?" - living with something usually means making sensible adjustments to ameliorate a problem not ignoring it completely and going round infecti..."And clamping down has condemned many people to die from undiagnosed and untreated cancer, heart disease etc over this last 20 months. Some estimates put those in the many tens of thousands. Blind Col, and other like him have my utmost sympathy, but you have to consider when prevention becomes worse than the disease. A report today said that almost all children's education has suffered during the pandemic. You can't make up for that loss by blindly awarding them all A grades in non-exams either.
https://www.hdruk.ac.uk/news/the-big-...
There's no meaningful way to estimate how many might have survived if the pandemic had been dealt with differently or how many more might have succumbed to covid. It's all guesswork and "what if ..."I have wondered whether it shouldn't simply have been left to run its course but I don't have the knowledge to make an informed guess. The Spanish flu in 1918 killed millions but how much were those figures exacerbated by the factor of a weakened population in the aftermath of war? Don't know.
The suffering isn't calculable or comparable. We just blunder along in the hope that the decisions taken are halfway sensible.
"condemned many people to die from undiagnosed and untreated cancer, heart disease etc over this last 20 months. Some estimates put those in the many tens of thousands." but probably significantly fewer than the 125k+ Covid has reaped and that's with belated lockdowns, grudging requirements to wear masks and vaccines, no-one will know what it could have been if allowed to let rip - 250k, 500k? I accept there never was and never will be a perfect way to handle such a dreadful situation but what untimely little has been done was and is for the greater good. No-one knows whether earlier, harder lockdowns would have allowed the NHS to function and deliver more 'normal' health care, screening and operations but it doesn't seem outlandishly unfeasible to me.
OK, I admit I may have underestimated the storm, my last post was during the lull that was before the almighty thrashing that our area got.Spared the rod we were not. Only just got the power back on, after 48 hours of none.
All romantic notions of candlelight and family board games, soon ebb away when you're asked for the 50th time, " The Playstation still works right" etc etc...
fks sake.
Buggered by Barra? Should've held your peace, the atmosphere knows when someone's dissing its power you know!
Tonight I'm sat with a bottle of Zon red watching (for the 2nd time this month) probably my all time favourite slasher film 'Black Christmas'. Margot Kidder's bloody brilliant in it. Hard to believe it's the same age I am. (No smart-arse remarks please Tim/Mr B.)🎄🎄🎄🍷🍷🍷🎄🎄🎄
Bit of cooking today, lamb curry done slow in the range, and Aloo Gobi (Potato and Caulflower curry).Kids still have no idea about the Puppy, arriving at Christmas, a coincidence more than anything, but it'll add a little something. Well a few little somethings, all over the place no doubt.
Remember now Timtim, a puppy is for life!!Tonight I've had a nice bottle of Canti, watched I'll Always Know What You Did Last Summer, and sat snottering my eyes out yet again at the end of Dark Water.
Anita wrote: "Im sure I have black christmas on DVD,My type of film."I just wish they would remaster (?) it, Anita. The quality kinda sucks. Still my fave slasher film though.
