Collette | 6187 comments Tonight I've relaxed with a nice bottle of red (I slugged from the bottle after pouring my last glass and got a gob full of grit. Durr! Apart from that..,) Thank god it's been more relaxing than yesterday, when miss mischief Snowdrop clambered up beside the computer and after carrying on like a baby loonie, got her claw stuck in one of the Mac speaker holes. This girl's good for my diet, but not my bloody heart. "Dave, Dave, get f***ing in here! Snowdrop's got her foot stuck in the computer!" Glad I wasn't by myself. I'd have probably done something daft like phone 999. 😳😳😳

Serial Sock Trumpet (serialsocktrumpet) | 1998 comments Painting neighbours bungalow, bit of a task, why do people like the window reveals a different colour? Weather playing ball intermittently. Just a bit on one gable to finish tomorrow.
I will miss the flow of homemade scones, coffee, sandwiches etc etc...

message 3660: by suzysunshine7 (new)

suzysunshine7 | 16038 comments WoW?! ... with yummy perks like that I'd never want to finish painting either ;o>

I think that different coloured Window Reveals look much nicer - give a Home character through a much more personal, and attractive, and a 'friendlier' look to them. I find them far more appealing to the Eye ;o>

Isabella | 1370 comments Today, we are going to our new house, finally it's ours, after almost a year of on/off, will we/won't we? I am SO looking forward to having a garden again ...

We won't be moving in for a week, the removal firm is so busy but we can go and look and start to think where to put stuff. :o)

Craig White | 6727 comments yes, nice news, isabella.

but if you're a garden denier, like me, it's a lot of work! uncharacteristically, i have spent the greater part of the last two days.........er,........gardening!
i have mowed and trimmed the velvet lawns (picked up the slobbery skittery jobbery, placed for my benefit before i was even finished, trimmed hedges, re-arranged plants/pots, thrown out those beyond help, created a decorative pot (with slate monolith) for one of the solar floodlights, cleared away various rocks/bricks/chunks of concrete, painted the rims of 6 plant boxes, painted part of the fence, even found time to read my book in the dog toilet...sorry, gazebo, and you know what? it all looks no bad!

Isabella | 1370 comments Going back to house to sort a few more things. Aching badly after aa attack on the weeds, surprising how quickly I've got out of gardening condition.

Luckily for us, the son-in-law was with us yesterday. The nest controller for the hot water and heating turned out to have been botched badly by the installers (surprise!) and he spent nearly three hours working out what they'd done and putting it right. We wouldn't have had a clue (or any hot water) and clearly the plumber so well recommended by the previous owner didn't know what he was doing either ... S-i-L says most people who claim to be able to install nest systems don't really know what they're doing.

Which led me to this. 'ull is NOT a coastal town, it's a city of a quarter of a million a good few miles up the Humber (still a sh**'ole though) and how Grimsby (the clue's in the name) and Cleethorpes aren't in it God only knows.

Thanks Gordon, another fan here and I too have that "Jackie Leven Said" album. Jackie was a real crafter of songs. I pre-ordered "Straight Outta Caledonia" months ago - hopefully it'll arrive soon.

message 3690: by Craig White (new)

Craig White | 6727 comments gordon, thanks, a lovely piece by rankin, and all true...........i've always been mystified by the music buying public's indifference to big jackie's records! maybe the honesty is/was too much for folks, and save a brief period of record company chart assault, he never sugar coated anything - he was a genius.

val, it's definitely released tomorrow. how long it will take to get to you.......i dunno.

Isabella | 1370 comments Trawling the internet for various items needed in the new place. Anyone out there recommend a compost bin? Thoroughly confused by the reviews on the various sites and I can't construct anything too complicated for lack of tools.

message 3692: by Val (last edited Jul 22, 2021 07:28AM) (new)

Val H. | 22143 comments Would love to help Isabella but I'm too far away to know what is available to purchase in the UK. We constructed 3 side-by-side open air compost bins similar to these

One to add to, one breaking down and one to use. They've survived for 30 years so we must have done an okay job. Good luck with whatever you decide upon.

Collette | 6187 comments This evening I've been trying out my new carpet washer. Did part of the hall. Snowdrop thinks it's great because the landing door's open so the carpet can dry, and she keeps on going up and down the stairs. Surprised she doesn't mind the wet carpet.

Gonna sit with a vodka in a bit and watch Murder In Paradise and Stargate Atlantis.

Like every other note he has ever sung, it will have been pirated, and generally available before too long.
I also shelled out for the live stream without knowing what to expect, and certainly wasn’t disappointed. But it’s actually an extended music video with high production values rather than a spontaneous concert and it is bound to have a longer life.
