I think you're confusing your RAM (ideally 4GB minimum) and your data disc storage:-)

I doubt if you'll find much new under £400 for what you're looking for.

If you'll take a refurbished machine, Laptops Direct had several that might fit your requirements.

Derek W | 1365 comments PS - I haven't come across a laptop with more than 3 USB ports for years. If you need more than that, get yourself a cheap USB hub, there's thousands of them on Amazon.

I've bought 2 refurbished laptops over the last few years, both were good. There's some really good Ebay sellers with good reputations if you do your homework.

I'm an IKEA assembly expert Lez. We pretty much furnished the entire French house from IKEA in Toulouse so I've had a lot of practice. I actually find it quite soothing:-)

Craig White | 6727 comments "They say the apple never falls far from the tree?"

this apple was skillfully detached by a tree surgeon (who else?), transferred to a purple velvet cushion, placed inside a glass case, couriered to the airport, loaded onto a chartered jet, flown to tokyo, unloaded and paraded through the city in a popemobile flanked by a dozen military outriders, driven to a sacred secret shrine in a peaceful and tranquil wooded grove, ceremonially handed over to a holy man, who whispered the blessing of the lotus flower unto it, before dropping it to the ground.

quite the distance actually.

I would think you need 8GB of RAM as a minimum for speed. The Intel i5 should be okay for your needs.

I agree ;o> ... I believe that certain types of (dysfunctional) parenting often inspires and encourages the complete opposite in attitudes and behaviour in a lot of adult children. I definitely know this to be true in my case as I am entirely self-taught on almost all of my daily life-skills and have a very different nature and outlook on life to both of my parents.

You can choose to break free from the cycle instead of becoming just another spoke in a family wheel.

suzysunshine7 | 16038 comments Today I shall mostly be ... helping my Mum to pot the Tomtato plants that arrived yesterday.

It's always a bit nerve-wracking ordering fresh Plants through the Post - especially when the Nursery will only use The Royal Mail who is not known around here for being fast on delivery, or in any way careful and reliable with Parcels.

However, a completely plain white Box arrived this time around instead a very clearly marked one saying 'Fresh Plants' or 'Fragile' or 'This Way Up' on it - and, for once, the Postal Staff had apparently decided against giving this Box a really good kicking around like they usually do which means that all three of the Tomtato Plants have arrived in absolutely fabulous condition this year ... YAYYY!!! ;o>

suzysunshine7 | 16038 comments Ooops! ... sorry Mr B - I've mentioned these a few times now on Amazon and on here and so I forgot that I might still need to explain them ;o>

Buying Tomtatoes started off as being somewhat of a novelty try-out of an early Fathers Day gift about 7 or 8 years ago. However they were so successful and prolific that I now buy three of these Plants every year now for my Dad.

It is indeed a grafted Plant that has been made out of a Tomato and a Potato Plant. You grow the Tomato Plant and towards the end of them yielding Tomatoes you then dig up the Roots to where there are several pounds of delicious Salad Potatoes waiting to be harvested ;o>

Thompson & Morgan made a very big deal of selling them for a few years but haven't done so for the last three. This left me stuck searching for weeks all around the Internet until I finally came across an obscure Blog Article in an online Gardening magazine that led me to the only place in the UK that still creates these wonderful Plants every year ...

https://www.victoriananursery.co.uk/T...

I have to remember to pre-order sometime around September/October time to guarantee us getting some of the few Tomtato Plants that they create every year and usually pay about £12 for three including P&P ;o>

I shall check them out next year but will probably stick with buying from Victoriana Nursery Gardens as the Plants are always of a fantastic quality and they are always such a great price too ;o>

message 1025: by suzysunshine7 (new)

suzysunshine7 | 16038 comments They grow very well - produce lots of really tasty sweet Tomatoes - and then the bonus on digging them up is getting to uncover the lovely crop of Potatoes growing at the Roots.

We aren't keen on Aubergines but I buy a couple of Egg & Chips Plants every year for a friend who has an Allotment - and he likes to pay me back by dropping off fortnightly bunches of the most beautiful Gladioli throughout the Summer ;o>

Gordon (skiiltan) | 2940 comments Thanks Lez. I still have no idea who/what he is, though.

During lockdown I've got into the habit of watching repeats of Richard Osman's House of Games (BBC2 6 pm). I have to record it because I still can't manage to finish work by 6. Anyway, RO introduces it by saying the contestants are "four famous faces" but I haven't yet seen the opening episode of a contest without having to Google at least two of them to see what it is they're "famous" for. I know it's cheap telly and there won't be A-listers taking part - and it's probably better for featuring lesser-known contestants - but it would be good if he'd introduce people as "stand-up comedian Chris Geordie" or "Countryfile presenter Anita Nice", etc., to at least give a slight clue.

Mr Caulfield's an actor. I'd never heard of him either.
I love H. Of G. but, like you, don't know many contestants. It's amazing how ignorant a lot of them are, considering their levels of education. Have you seen any of the spelling rounds? Osman himself is pretty rubbish. They can't all be dyslexic. Perhaps because I'm from a family of good spellers I notice it more.
