What I don't understand is why cigarettes and alcohol are legal (both of which are addictive and can make people do really stupid things) but marijuana is illegal.

It should be legalized and taxed. Though, it is harmful, inhaling smoke, no matter the content, is harmful. And the drug itself is harmful. However many drugs do not cause motivation for violence, but merely a release in Endorphins. I do not believe that the goverment is going working together to enslave us all, because they already have enough of us ensared. We have the freedom to do what we want(to a degree), but people CHOOSE to support the system. The goverment is not the puppetmasters, but the media and industry. Who funds the campaigns? For the first time in several decades, Obama won without major campaign contributions from large organizations. However, who ENDORSED Obama, thereby ensuring him small amounts in large quantitys from the massess. BTW, I support Obama, usually.

Also, the guy said that it is highly unlikely that you will develop lung cancer, since most people who do have smoked like 20 cigarettes a day for 20 years, and marijuana is not nearly that addictive.. or so he says. 0.o Yay for newbieness! :D
Yeah, marijuana smokers smoke less that nicotine addicts. (Well, I guess it depends on the person.)On the other hand, though, marijuana is slightly addictive, so when the treatment's over, the person might still want marijuana, and then the whole drug addict horror story might happen.
So I'm neutral with this topic.

There's only a horror story as much as people who drink 5 cups of coffee a day for years and stop have a horror story.
But marijuana costs more than coffee (I think...), so that would be worse for their bank account....But, again, I'm neutral....

Also, if it was legal, then we wouldn't have gang warfare centered around drugs. And the terrorists in Afghanistan would have trouble being funded.

People say "Marijuana is addictive, it's bad for your health and the health of people around you, it just makes you lay around all day or do violent things, it gives you courage to do things you normally wouldn't do, it made a come-back in the 60's, and people do it at partys." The same could be said about good music.
it dont always kill you. i mean i have never did it. but my whole family are old hippies. and they aint addictived. you can stop if you truly want to.
I'm pretty sure that it's on a case by case basis. Like alchohol and nicotine.

You really think that? People die on Marijuana. It's really a stupid thing to do, it's a poison, just like alchohol and caffeine, but you also damage your lungs by inhaling it.

It's actually a lot less damaging than alchohol or cigarettes. There's a nifty graph on the marijuana drug page on Wiki.
Yeah, I saw that. It's very true that it's LESS bad, and I fully support legalizing it, but I would never do it.
You can't overdose on it, it would take way too much...But I agree with Mukesh, I don't think I would ever do it.
Nor would I...but I don't see the problem with it, especially if cigarettes are kept legal....
Yeah. Alchohol is horrible for everyone concerned, but it's legal.
I wouldn't use it either. Or alcohol. Or cigarettes. They just don't appeal to me. :P I'm not fully decided about whether it should be legal or not, but I'm leaning towards it being made legal.

That's a big part of it. The other part is the fact that I can't even stand drowsy cold medicine and Benedryl.

I'm not that kind of person at all. If I get a headache, I take ibuprofen, no questions asked. If I get allergies, I pop a pill for that.

If I get a headache, I just wait it out. Your body is supposed to take care of itself, it can manage.
