SOLVED. Looking for a book about a male mermaid (can’t remember what they actually called them). [s]

I’m looking for a book that is probably set in the 1800s where a widowed woman lives in a smalll town near a beach. One day when she is by the water she comes across a merman and a child mermaid injured and caught in some rope on land. She comes back later that night to help free and save them. In the ocean you can see them from their eyes and they speak a different language. The widow is able to communicate through an old heirloom flute passed down in her family. She gets to know the merman and learn his language and eventually fall in love.

That’s all I remember but I just read it about 2 months ago. Google hasn’t been helpful in my search!
