I'm happy to answer questions about my new novel, A Sudden Light.

Cecile | 1 comments Actually, my question is not about A Sudden Light (sorry), rather I have a burning question about The Art of Racing in the Rain. I would love to know your inspiration for the scene where Enzo transitions from this life to the next, when Enzo is running in a field healthy and well. My reason for asking is a dream I had the night my late dog Ernie died (years before your book was written). He was in the hospital and I was still hopeful that he would get well and come home. I had a very vivid dream, so vivid it felt real, of Ernie running and playing in a green field. Like Enzo, in this dream Ernie was healthy, but unlike your book I saw other dogs running in this field. That morning I found out I had the dream around the time Ernie died. I believe he came though my dream to let me know he was OK. No way to know in this life, but I am wondering if your book contains a realistic description of canine afterlife?
Thank you!
