Esther Rabbit | 23 comments Writing the blurb for your novel, what a nerve-wrecking stage! It took 3 months to finally come up with a decent blurb for my first novel (Lost in Amber). The greatest help came through my author buddies who ultimately lent a hand to word it better & gave me so many useful tips. Then I rolled up my sleeves and started investigating, so that when I had to write that pesky blurb for BOOK 2 (Found in Amber), I got it done in only 5 minutes. I put together a video with tips, power words, expressions, opening statements & formula for all authors going through the same awkward stage: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rdxy8...
I really hope you’ll find it useful.

Your video was most helpful and I strongly recommend it to other authors.

Done.

Sean Bai | 23 comments I saw Brian Meeks talk about this.

I don't believe in putting spoilers in blurbs. If you look at movie trailer comments for example, that's the number one thing people complain about: spoilers.

I like to have one specific and one general thing. I want to hook people in.

I agree that too many spoilers can ruin everything. I try to give the audience bits and pieces without overdoing it.
