Esther Rabbit | 47 comments Writing the blurb for your novel, what a nerve-wrecking stage! It took 3 months to finally come up with a decent blurb for my first novel (Lost in Amber). The greatest help came through my author buddies who ultimately lent a hand to word it better & gave me so many useful tips. Then I rolled up my sleeves and started investigating, so that when I had to write that pesky blurb for BOOK 2 (Found in Amber), I got it done in only 5 minutes. I put together a video with tips, power words, expressions, opening statements & formula for all authors going through the same awkward stage: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rdxy8...
I really hope you’ll find it useful.

Lissa Oliver | 36 comments Very useful! It's the hardest part of writing, after completing 80,000+ words, then summing it up in 50! When those people and their story have become your whole life! A network of support from writing buddies is great. I also find The Hero's Journey handy. Who is he (she/it)? What does he want? What hinders him? A simple one-sentence response to each leads to a good blurb. It also helps us to focus on the key aspects of the book, instead of rambling about the protagonist's inner demons and complicated love life!

Truer words have never been spoken, Lissa :)
