１２－１１－１４Part 14

Maria opened her eyes, unsure if this was part of the process. Perhaps she wasin heaven now. Or hell. Or maybe this was her ghost form. Or...maybe she hadn’t died at all. Maria realized she was looking in the face of a kind middle-aged woman. Her brown hair stopped abruptly at her shoulders, and she had hazel eyes. The person seemed shocked at the sight of a person in their arms, and Maria was just angry. Here she was trying to die and this person was ruining it for her. Maria attempted to get out of her arms, and the female was only too happy to oblige.
Maria was fuming with anger. How dare this person try to come in and saveher. She was trying to die in the way she wanted to, and this...thing was ruining it. But the females face seemed oddly familiar.
“Hello child” the person said.
Maria narrowed her eyes and replied saying “I know you. Who are you?”
“A stranger curious about your actions. What were you hoping toaccomplish?”
Her voice was calming, peaceful and sounded genuine and concerned. Herhazel eyes reflected kindness, and warmth which just worsened the situation for Maria. She fell to her knees and sobbed. All of her anger, depression, confusion poured out of her. The lady came down to her knees and comforted her awkwardly. Maria eventually calmed down and took several breaths in order to calm herself. She sat properly, crossing her legs not caring that she was currently in the middle of a sidewalk. The lady didn’t seem to mind either as she sat across from her waiting patiently for Maria to begin her explanation. Maria began talking, telling her everything from the bullying to the cutting to the suicidal mission. A small part of her told her to stop, but once she started, she couldn’t stop. It felt good to get it off her chest.

Once her story was complete, Maria stared at the person. Who was she? Whatwas she going to do? Where did Maria know her from? Why had she stayed? When was she going to say something? The person stood up and offered her hand.
“Come child. I have a solution to your problem”
Maria stood and took her hand. At this point she didn’t care what happened toher, but was extremely curious as to what was happening. The stranger walked for what seemed to be hours to Maria. She was tired, and weak with no food in her system. The adrenaline had escaped her and every few minutes sleep claimed her. She only woke due to the women shaking her constantly.
Eventually, they made it to a rather familiar street. Her mother’s work wascloseby and Maria frowned confused. Did the stranger know? However, Maria was soon proven wrong as they walked past the building.
“Wait. My mom works there.”
The stranger turned to look at the building. Without saying anything, sheturned and walked into the building and began navigating through the floors. Maria soon spotted her mother’s office and let go of the persons hand. She ran towards the door, opening it and collapsing onto her mothers lap. The stranger followed shortly and began talking to Maria’s mother. Maria didn’t hear the conversation even though she was only inches away from them. She had fallen asleep.

Maria was soon woken up to her parents worried face. Looking around, sherealized that she was in a hospital room. Seeing their daughter’s confusion, they began explaining everything. The lady who had turned out to be Ms. *insert name of Dog Food Brand* had told Maria’s parents what Maria told her. They had instantly sent Maria to the hospital and reported Sheila and Terri. They were currently in a therapy group where they’d learn to communicate properly. Maria nodded in a way to acknowledge them leaving and leaned against her bed content.
Maria was in the hospital for several months. Her nurses and doctors forcedher to several therapy sessions where she discussed her emotions, and they helped her overcome her depression. They refused to let her go until they were positive that they had healed her. After a couple of months, she returned back to school, expecting more rumors, although she wasn’t fazed this time. Much to her surprise many students were excited to her arrival. They were overjoyed, after learning that Sheila and terri would no longer control the school. As a result, she was loved by majority of the school and was now the head bee. Maria’s life was now the one she wanted and she couldn’t ask for more.
As for the pocketknife, it had discovered the garbage. It rested there,occasionally glinting in the sunlight but for the remainder of its life, it slept. It didn’t pierce through any skin, and didn’t have any more blood stains on it.

their destination. It was the perfect night to do it as well. The usual glow of the moon was gone, and many of the stars had chosen to disappear behind clouds. She had checked and made sure that all the janitors had left and the building was deserted. Across from her she could see the factory that produced Victoria’s dog food. Memories of Victoria, of her parents, of her former friends ran through her mind. She could hear all of their words inside of her head, see their faces, remember their fragrance. Tears escaped from her eyes at the thought of all of them, and a small part of her told her not to do it. Don’t jump Maria. It’ll get better. Don’t jump. Maria nearly listened to it. She backed up a bit from the ledge wondering what she was doing. But her demons were quick to remind her. What are you doing you worthless piece of...nothing. Just jump. Just end the pain for your parents and Victoria. If you really love them, you’ll do it idiot. Maria nodded vigorously to herself and took a deep breath. She placed her right foot up on the ledge and soon the rest of her body caught up. Maria was about to jump but had a better idea. She stepped off, took of her sweatshirt and placed it on the floor. The next morning when a janitor would come they’d see and give the sweatshirt to her dad after recognizing the name. Yes, that was what would happen. She was certain thats what would happen.

I’m helping them. No more burden on mom and dad. Victoria will be fine -- mom and dad will feed her. It’ll be okay she told herself, in order to silence the ‘what ifs’ in her mind.
