My 2 1/2 year old daughter's personality is developing into such a complex thing. On one hand she is compassionate and nurturing, but on the other hand she is hilarious and stubborn. She reminds me that we all have this duality in our own personalities, like the two sides of a coin.

Read ONE book from one of the following options. REQUIRED: State which option you chose when you post.

Option 1: Read a book that has the word "coin", or the name of a US coin (defined as: penny, nickel, dime, quarter) in the title/subtitle. Plurals and possessives will work, but no other variations.

Option 2: Read a book whose title or subtitle has two words that are conflicting or opposites. Here's a list that may help: Opposites

Morgan (faeriesfolly) | 923 comments Would books with 'childrens' be allowed if they met the requirments for SRC? [I'm assuming no since it's not noted, but figured it couldn't hurt to ask just in case.]

message 7: by Julie (new)

Julie Will these ones meet the requirements for Option 2/Opposites?

The Department of Lost & Found
Lost and Found
Lost & Found

Yes, children's books are allowed, as long as they meet the SRC requirements!

message 15: by Morgan (new)

Morgan (faeriesfolly) | 923 comments Thanks Emurphy. :) Right now I'm thinking: The School for Good and Evil

Even the two main characters are opposites. Looks cute.

No, I think it's a variation of penny.

No, I don't think father/son is an acceptable opposite, sorry.

message 32: by Isabell (new)

Isabell (purzel) | 246 comments I was wondering whether any of these would work for option 2?

One Corpse Too Many (one/many)
The Once and Future King (once/future)

These two might really be stretching it too far, but I thought I'd just as well include them while I was asking:
Inside Out/Outside In

Plus, a book that might work in the German version:
Grieche sucht Griechin. The title would loosely translate to "Greek searches for Greek", as in Greek man searhes for Greek woman.

message 33: by Nicole (last edited Dec 18, 2014 10:27AM) (new)

Nicole | 1295 comments These would be a good choices (as long as you agree, Emurphy) for opposites in case anyone wanted more ideas:

The Death Class: A True Story About Life
Wild: From Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail
Blackbird: A Childhood Lost and Found

message 34: by Emily (new)

Big Little Lies

I'm planning on reading Big Little Lies, as long as my library copy comes in on time. :)

Thanks for checking.

I just realized that I probably posted the Inside Out/Outside In books in an awkward manner. So just to be sure: These are actually two books, belonging to the same series:
Inside Out
Outside In

So just double checking: Do they still work as such?

And just so understand why the other books don't fit (I'm fine with them not fitting the task): Do the conflicting/opposite words actually have to be on that list? From the wording in the task I was taking the list just as inspiration for the task, not a requirement? For example "The Once and Future King", where once has the meaning of "at some time in the past". That sounds like the opposite of "future" to me.

Again, I'm fine with the books not fitting the task, just trying to understand the reason so I don't make the same mistake again.

Outside In and Inside Out are acceptable. I do see your point about the other books. The opposite words do not have to come from the list, I am using them as guidance. I could accept them if you wanted to use them.

That's alright, I'll take your first ruling on these books, it's your task after all. I'll just read the inside/outside series (one of them, at least) for this task. I've been wanting to read them for ages, so that's the perfect opportunity to get them off my TBR shelf. I've got another spot for one of the alternative books and that's the only one I really needed to fit anywhere since that's the one I already read this month.

Thanks again for taking the time to look at these books.

message 42: by Happy (new)

Happy (worldhasteeth) | 173 comments I took a glance at my 2015 TBR, and I have LOADS of books that probably qualify for task 20.5, for having opposites in their title.

Obviously I'll only be using one for that purpose. But would it be polite to list all of the books here to assist other readers? Or would that be a nuisance to you?

If you list them, I can go through them and add them to my approved/unapproved lists. About how many are you listing?

message 44: by Happy (new)
