In Chapter 8 Charley is left to watch over the wounded in her apartment. While they heal, she has a major breakdown in the presence of Ubie and Cookie. While chatting with the Dealer Charley learns that Mr. Wong is "a being of ungodly power"! OMG Really??? Like, ok. We knew he must be something special but now we learn he is powerful! What went through your mind at that moment?

Lauren (badboybookworm) I instantly wondered if Mr. Wong would have a major part to play with the hell on earth coming for Charley and Reyes.

Angie Bee | 59 comments I think he's a pivotal player, and he's part of the army that Charley will recruit.

Isn't it amazing? Here we've been wondering for the past six books and finally Mr. Wong takes on this whole new dimension. I can't wait for more!

Can he (Mr. Wong) be really bad if both the dealer and Reyes knows he has all of this power but don't really seem all that concerned that he's in Charley's apartment?

Lauren (badboybookworm) But I also wonder if Mr. Wong is serving as Charley's protector from her fire and brimstone slinging FIL.

Brittany (betweenthepagesofabook) | 15 comments i definitely think he will play a big role in coming books. Possibly protect Charley,or be a fighter!

yes, I think so. Possibly someone from her own celestial family?

I hadn't thought about that. If Mr. Wong is as powerful as they say, I honestly think that he will be a major player in what's to come. I think with your thought about the Dealer and Reyes being okay with him in her home that he's on the good side. Reyes would never let Charley be living with someone powerful if they were truly dangerous.

I go back and forth on this. In book 6, Duff was convinced Wong was dangerous and was stunned that Reyes was okay with him being there. And THEN Reyes tore out the wall between their beds.

By the way - melted cheese is the best food group. After coffee

Ines (slayraa) | 684 comments I agree with cheese, though I don't like coffee (you can possibly shun me from the group after I admitted this lol).

I think Mr Wong is one of the kinds of possession that the priest talked about. And even though he was there before Charley moved in, maybe she moved there because of him without consciously realising it. She kisses Mr. Wong goodnight, so he can't be that bad... but a powerful being he is. And he hid his power from Reyes until the other ghost noticed him. On the other hand, the other ghost that lost his accent in the last book and likes Charley a little too much does scare me a little.
