Another classic i haven't read in a very long time - and you appreciate them so much more and differently when you read them as an adult. Its like reading them for the first time! But let me tell you my favorite thing about the Great Gatsby - that my kid really enjoyed it. Was interested and thought about it, and couldn't wait to see what happened. Like we actually talked about it, not to mention read it together in parts. And that makes Gatsby unforgettable for me.

Love that! Gatsby is rarely loved by the young. I think that is just AWESOME!
It's been since high school since I've read this- thinking 2020 might be the year- as everyone is doing 1920's parties. I've got my flapper dress, feathered headband, and pearls ready to go!
I have gone to a Gatsby party three or four times in my life and it was a blast!
Amy and I have read the same books at times with our boys. We both read this one at the same time even though we are in different states. I guess 11th grade English is the same every where. We differed on our opinions on this one though but the process is still the gift as Amy mentioned. The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald

This was a buddy read with my 11th grade son. This is the second book I have read by the author and his style of writing is easy to read. I was not in love with this book and neither was my son. I found it difficult connecting with the characters, they were all so self-centered except Nick Carraway.
“They were careless people, Tom and Daisy-they smashed up things and creatures and then retreated back into their money or their vast carelessness, or whatever it was that kept them together, and let other people clean up the mess they had made...”
