From the name of a type of tree, ultimately deriving from Greek ακη (ake) "thorn, point".
Middle name and meaning: Bailee
Variant of Bailey
Last name and meaning: Baldwin
Derived from the Germanic elements bald "bold, brave" and win "friend". In the Middle Ages this was a popular name in Flanders and among the Normans, who brought it to Britain. It was borne by one of the leaders of the First Crusade, an 11th-century nobleman from Flanders. After the crusaders conquered Jerusalem, he was crowned as the king of the Kingdom of Jerusalem.

History: Acacia has always felt sheltered, but not in a loving way. She hardly knew the man she called Father because he was always off on business, so she never really talked to him except when he told her she was going on the Titanic. Her mom never paid her any attention and her nurse, Bernadette, raised her. The one thing she felt very close to was her guard dog, a loyal Akita named Dawn. Acacia did love books, however, and her noble status got her access to all that she wanted to read. When she was sixteen her father showed up out of the blue, saying that she was to take passage on the Titanic to go to school in New York. She went, and with a bag full of her favorite books and Dawn by her side, took the steps needed to reach her new beginning in America.
Personality: Acacia has always been bold, improper for a upper-class girl. She never cared what class someone was in or wether they were richer or poorer than her. All she really wants is go love with all of her heart, but in her very sheltered life she barely met anyone that might love her. So she gave all her bottled up love to Dawn, her dog, and to books. But she still dreams of that world-changing love that she reads so often about in books. She may not have many friends, but when you meet her she will instantly accept you.
Strengths: Father and Mother are quite famous; she is very well known.
Dawn will do anything to protect her.
Weaknesses: Sheltered life
She not very welcomed by upper-class adults because of her boldness with lower class members.
Likes: Books
Her dog, Dawn
Dislikes: Her parents.
Class rules.
People being treated unfairly.

Kiara was born and raised in Cork, Ireland, my her mother and grandmother. She and her older sister Keeva never knew their father; Keeva was only two years old, while her mother still carried Kiara in her stomach. Their father, who had worked at the docks, was crushed by tumbling crates. He had been given severe brain damage and punctured his lung, and died two days later.
Kiara and her family were quite poor after losing their main breadwinner. Kiara's mother repaired clothes for other families while Keeva worked as a maid for a wealthy family. Their mother knew her daughters' futures were very limited, and wanted for them to have the best lives imagineable. When they heard of a new ship called Titanic that would sail for America, their mother saw this as an opportunity to free her daughters from poverty. But alas they could only save enough money for one ticket. The family was stuck, but then Keeva suggested Kiara go to America instead of her. She said that a future with the wealthy family would give her another opportunity later in life, and also would support their family. And as Kiara had not yet found a job, there had been no future outlined for her.
Thus, after weeks of arguing and the making up of minds, Kiara finally decided to sail to America on board the Titanic. She took with her only two small suitcases filled with her belongings, looking forward to the land of opportunities yet missing her family greatly.
