I haven't seen the movie, but (BOOK SPOILER) in the book she just kinda dies randomly. Teresa gets crushed by cement rubble as a building collapses. It happens very fast and people often interpret her death as Dashner trying to just get rid of the love triangle. The movie might have copied this but didn't know what to do with it.
