Marissa, I'm so glad you liked that MZ book. Even though I've enjoyed a number of her books and Kulti is one of my all-time faves, I've yet to read that one. I also have it on my PFM shelf. It seems that there are some books I'm only ever going to make time for if someone picks it for me. Lol.

message 196: by Marta (new)

Marta Nicole thank you for your pick ;)
I started last week but finished today because i got so disappointed during the reading. Up until 60% it was a ok reading but after that...
It had so much going on, and Silas being a broken person and Max a nurse, how come him never mention terapy to him?!
The families and getting yourself out a addiction/trama alone were a lot to take in :/

Unfortunately, I rated it 2*

Marta, I am sorry you did not enjoy Someday, Someday. I know there was a lot going on. Most of the things are real life traumas for many people. I love that Emma Scott took them on in this book.
Since Silas was subjected to conversion therapy as a youth, he was probably very wary of any other kind of therapy. Silas did undergo three years of traditional therapy. I remember him mentioning that at some point. He also sought help through AA. I think his scars just ran so deep that trust was an issue overall. I think that Silas coming to trust Max helped in his healing. He finally found someone who would love and support him no matter what. Silas had only ever had that kind of love from his mom and Eddie. Neither of those people could presently help him out of his dark emotional void. That fell on Max.

The beauty of being a reader is that we can read the same words with different eyes. We don't have to agree about how we feel about those words. The value of reading is finding those words that speak to your soul and using them to make life a better place. I truly hope you enjoy your March PFM book more than February's pick.

Nicole, I loved your words here ...it's so true and I love that about reading also. We each receive "the words" in different ways and some speak to us and some just don't. You worded it so beautifully.

Marta, better luck this month. It's a bummer when a book doesn't work for you.

message 199: by Marta (new)

Marta Nicole, I absolutely understand and support your words. And i really loved that you picked this book, so don't feel bad, because i was excited about Max since "forever right now" ;)

But for this character the kind of experiences that him faced, pill addiction or traumas about conversion therapy, in my mind it is very difficult to over come that without proper help. Because even if we received help and have good people around us, sometimes even that doesn't help, we still have that something that feels that is always there around us...

And Nicole and Michelle thank you, i hope too ;)
