I do worry about dates so I keep myself under thirty. Mind you Brenda keeps telling me about fave authors and my tally does increase accordingly!!!
I try to keep my NG shelf close to 20 but it keeps ballooning up to double that when I’m not watching. So far I’m just keeping up with pub dates but I’d really like to fit in more of my own library!

And that's my problem - physical ARCs, NG and my own books - impossible to read them all when we keep acquiring more (somehow!)

I love reading these NetGalley confessions. I totally lost control of my shelf but I’ve managed to get it back under control this year. I see so many great books I want to read.
Well done Veronica! I shouldn't complain because I've had some really good books this year from NG and it's my own fault for being greedy!
I am trying to get mine back to a sensible number by the end of the year, although I was excited to see my 500 badge has popped up sometime this month.

Haha! Confessions! Good description Veronica - glad you managed to have the willpower to get it under control!

I had a bizarre thing happen today:I opened the kindle version of Tiny Pieces of Us downloaded from NetGalley, the cover states Tiny Pieces of Us, as does the banner across the top of each page, but the actual novel contained within is Tiny White Lies by Fiona Palmer.
I have emailed Hachette. It's going to be difficult to review if I can't actually read it!
LOL! That's a major gaff Marianne! I've never heard of that happening before. They'll fix it I'm sure :)
Ha, ha, I’m with Veronica that I love hearing these ‘confessions’ 🤫I’ve backed off Netgalley a bit lately, although I can’t resist looking every day.
Due to Covid and our state library system, it meant that all my reserved books that I’ve had on hold for a LONG time, seem to come in together. So I’ve been working my way through them...if I feel I still want to read them. Waiting 8 months for a book seems to take the shine off it!
9 books on my Netgalley shelf....I get stressed if I hit 15.
Yes Brenda, we’ve been allowed to have one month, with the possibility of an extension. And we have a loan system for the whole state, which I feel has made things worse. ie our library card is for every library within the state but we have a dedicated ‘home’ library. Great in theory and if you don’t mind the older releases but not great for readers like me who are very up to date with releases.
One month isn't long - that's our usual time for having the books out (unless it's a popular new release, then it's 2 weeks) A shame they didn't give you 6 - 8 weeks. And wow, they sounds like total overload! What a headache for the librarians...
Tricia Stringer's latest The Family Inheritance is still able to be requested on Netgalley, it is excellent! Reminded me of the Fiona Lowe book Just an Ordinary Family
I’m not sure if this has been put up before or not but Angela Marsons new book Death Score: An absolutely gripping crime thriller packed with suspense no 13 in the series has just been put up on Netgalley
marlin1 wrote: "I’m not sure if this has been put up before or not but Angela Marsons new book Death Score: An absolutely gripping crime thriller packed with suspense no 13 in the ..."I was approved overnight. I love this series, so it's going to the top of my TBR pile.
Thanks Marlin - I’ve been looking for that one!I also picked up the new Miss Kopp novel for those following that series. Dear Miss Kopp
Marianne wrote: "White Throat by Sarah Thornton (Clementine Jones #2) is available for request, published 1 Dec"Snap Marianne, I was just coming on to post that, saw it late last night. Requested and now approved, really enjoyed the first book
Marianne wrote: "White Throat by Sarah Thornton (Clementine Jones #2) is available for request, published 1 Dec"I requested that one Marianne. I really liked the first in the series.
The Last Thing to Burn: A Novel by Will Dean is Read Now (published Apr 2021). I’m currently engrossed in his excellent Tuva Moodyson series, so although this appears to be a standalone, I couldn’t resist.
That sounds good Andrea! I've been wanting to read Dark Pines (the first in the series you mention).

Further to this, I received a print book in the mail today of Tiny Pieces of Us from Hachette, so now I'll be able to read and review :)

I know, it's a very short window, but at least it's not a 500 page tome!
