NetGalley - Requests and Read Now Advice

And guess what I found in the street library yesterday.....

Got it thanks! And after finally getting around to reading Daisy and Kate (on my holiday), I'm looking forward to another book by Meredith Appleyard.

Could this be read as a standalone? It seems like it's in a series. I've not read anything of Chris Hammer before.

I can't really say until I've read it Bec, but the plot looks to be quite separate from previous ones, so it should be okay. As this is the third in the series, you would miss out on some character development, especially for Nell who was quite inexperienced at the start.

Thanks Carolyn, seems I have book 1 on audible...maybe I need to get into that!

MURDER IN BLOOM a BRAND NEW utterly gripping cozy murder mystery full of twists Liz Fielding

Listening to that first would definitely be good before reading the new one :)

For any NG reviewers that this might affect..
I contacted NetGalley yesterday after Carolyn's suggestion (thanks Carolyn) and received a reply overnight.

Hi Brenda,
Thank you for reaching out and letting us know. We are aware of the issues and review restrictions that Amazon has put in place, and we are keeping an eye on how this is affecting our members. Sadly, we do not have any insight or influence on Amazon's review policy and have been suggesting that members continue to post on NetGalley and other social media and retail sites in the meantime.
While Amazon has made changes to its customer review policy, it clearly states: "It’s OK to review a free or discounted book (advanced reader copy) that you received from an author or publisher. However, they can’t require a review in exchange or try to influence the review."
We know a number of our members post a disclaimer that says they received the digital review copy from NetGalley in exchange for a review (please note that NetGalley does not require its members to submit/post a review in exchange for digital review copies, and we do not require members to post a disclaimer). Since we're not sure how Amazon will respond to the continued use of disclaimers like this, you may want to simplify it to something like "Thank you [name of publishing company] for providing this book for review consideration via NetGalley. All opinions are my own.”
Instagram is definitely a place that publishers like to see members reviews. You can also start adding in the Notes section of the Opinions section of your reviews that Amazon deactivated your reviewing account so you cannot share your review on Amazon.
I added the part at the bottom with the review I just posted in the NG publisher section - a good idea!

Hah! I'm very happy to revisit Lewis but I wonder if it's now a tetralogy, a series or maybe the start of a second trilogy! 🤔

Ahhh, nope I don't want more books....go to this one and what do you know, read now...so what did I press, yep, read now haha

Yeah but I read it was the first translated in English so figured it was okay to read as a standalone.

Absolutely. I think it's a series in terms of themes, but not characters or plot.

Endgame Sarah Barrie
Outback Reunion Rachael Johns
The Night of the Darling River Darry Fraser :)

Thanks for the heads-up, Helen! I've put my hand up for it, but not sure I'll be selected, as I've got a reviewing backlog at the moment, so have also put a hold on at the library - only 12 people in front of me!

I can't wait to read this one, I do hope you get it that will be a long wait at the library, I think there are many readers eagerly awaiting this one :)

I like Rachael Johns but haven’t read this series so better give it a miss.

They've already got four copies on order, and will probably add more, so I'll probably only have to wait 4-6 weeks after it arrives...

Thanks...but oh no...I feel like my september is already full, went to netgalley saw The Venice Hotel by Tess Woods and I'v'e wanted to read that so requested that (already published but available on NG until 24 Sept). I want to read a Candice Fox book too - haven't read one yet....but I think I'll hold off a bit and see how I go reading over the weekend before requesting.

Yes, I do want the print book, I'll need it after #57, for a reread, as Brenda suggested. Just couldn't resist when I got it on NetGalley :)
