I have just received an email from Eloise Plant regarding The Nurses' War by Victoria Purman
"Dear reviewers,
We apologise for the issues some of you had reading THE NURSES’ WAR by Victoria Purman on NetGalley recently, we had an upload issue.
To rectify this we have uploaded the ePub edition, and extended the availability date for you, so you can re-download a more user-friendly version!"
I emailed her back to check kindle download and she said:
"Yep the ePub file will edit the mobi file =)"
So those of you who wish to can re-download the updated version. I'll be doing it now :)

Not yet, but that happened on Friday so I guess by the time the publisher has had a look etc it might be today or tomorrow. I will post here when I get a response.
I'm currently reading Brunswick Street Blues and the text has CONFIDENTIAL READING MATERIAL in bold all through the text. On every page, there will be CONFIDENTIAL somewhere in bold, with whatever text on that line also in bold, ditto with READING and MATERIAL, in different spots. I'm sure this is effective as an anti-theft device, but it's very distracting! Has anyone else looked at their copy?

I haven't looked at mine yet but that will be irritating! Worse than the ones that insert the author's name randomly throughout the text.

I wonder why it is that files from NetGalley are coming out very badly formatted lately? It didn't happen as often I don't think, until the last few weeks.. Pretty poor!
Marianne wrote: "I'm currently reading Brunswick Street Blues and the text has CONFIDENTIAL READING MATERIAL in bold all through the text. On every page, there will be CONFIDENTIAL somewhere in bold..."Yes, I had that issue when I read it too. It's extremely annoying!!!!!
You'd think someone would have a look at the formatting of the edition they're sending out to early readers. These sorts of issues are really obvious.
I’ve had some bad ones, but nothing as bad as that! I don’t think I could tolerate it. I’d add it to my ‘Will not give feedback’ list, and tell them why.

Totally distracting!

I don't recall any of that problem in Snowy Mountains Cattleman Marlin... But they shouldn't be there - they should be checked before they're allocated.

I think that was the one you emailed Alissa as I had problems and she was going to contact the publisher. They may have corrected it.

I am struggling through it this evening and I don't see it getting a great review! It is impossible to settle into the story or to care much about what is happening!

I felt much the same way and it wasn't just due to the random bold words interrupting the reading flow all the time.

Ditto, will finish today but having trouble caring. In the latter half of the story there are words missing around those irritating insertions as well. What a short-sighted move by the publisher.
My book isn't as bad as that, but the NetGalley copy I'm reading of Candice Fox's The Chase (which you've all read already, no doubt) has random 1s and 0s placed around odd words throughout. It's only slightly distracting, fortunately. I think it's the UK NetGalley - wonder if that makes a difference.

Marianne wrote: "Phrynne wrote: "That is very strange Marianne. Like you I can't see anything to indicate you are not going to get the whole book."I have contacted NetGalley help about it and they will get onto the publisher to find out if it's meant to be a preview, or there's an error in the download file.
I must say that their Help people are very efficient. I was recently approved for the audio of The Maid and it was then archived, all while I was asleep. And they got the publisher to put the book back on my file to download, which I did, pronto!
Further to this, nothing via NetGalley, but I did let the author know and she contacted HCP who told her they will fix it. Watch this space...

I'll go back and add that info to my comment.
I guessed when I couldn't find it in Aussie Carolyn so I went searching:) She is one of my favourite authors!

Ah, that makes sense. When I changed my location setting it came up and I wished for it, but now I'll log into UK and request it instead (if I can...)
Carolyn wrote: "For those who love Jess Kidd's writing
