The Last Reunion"Thank you Brenda:)
I was also auto approved for Kayte Nunn's new book The Last Reunion and Esther Campion's new book A Week To Remember. Sorry I have no idea how to share the links to the books and the authors names.

Karren, in your comment box you'll see 'add book/author' in the top right hand corner. Click on that and add the book title or ISBN, then follow with the author. Down the bottom you can choose title or cover - you might notice on occasion we do both. That's how and if you just follow the prompts you should be right. But please ask if you have a problem..

Start with a new comment box and click on the 'add book/author' link - you see that part? Then basically follow the prompts in the box that comes up... Keep practicing :)

The Last Reunion"I'm still having netgalley requests refused by Hachette so can't get either of them. The email always states it's because I don't have a blog, but I'm sure they approve others without blogs. I have reviewed some 'Read Now' books from them but that didn't seem to help.
That's a shame Carolyn. I don't have a blog either and I'm auto approved with them which of course I was thrilled about. It only happened a couple of months ago. I don't know what you can do, just keep requesting and they might get sick of you asking and give in. Have you updated your profile on NG in awhile?

And I don't have a blog at all, but they auto-approved me! Go figure!

Not sure what I’ve done wrong, but I can always just buy the books when they’re published :)
One advantage of buying your own - you don't have a deadline for when you have to read it by :) But I'd keep plodding with them. They did that with me for a long time, then I had a couple approved; next thing I was auto approved...

Thanks all - will keep trying - starting with
. Someday it might work! And you’re right Brenda - it’s so good to read without deadlines!

Hang on, Brenda! What do you mean, no deadlines, when you keep putting up tempting challenges that make me keep altering my supposed reading schedule, eh? : )

Declined! I'm sure they have me on auto-decline! lol!!
Carolyn, why don't you email them and ask for a review copy? There are different people do NG to the ARCs :)
Brenda wrote: "Carolyn, why don't you email them and ask for a review copy? There are different people do NG to the ARCs :)"Good suggestion Brenda, but I can wait til it comes out. I have plenty to read for now :)
I hope it's okay to seek some guidance re: a NetGalley review in this thread. I've finished reading Paris Time Capsule by Ella Carey, which is being re-released by Bookouture, hence its listing on Netgalley. I own a copy of the (original release) book and thought I may as well read it when it came up on NG. The trouble is, I'm not a keen reader of romance, and the book really didn't do it for me. My review won't really be helpful for the author/publisher commercially. In what circumstances do other readers choose not to review for NetGalley, or do you just not post on commercial sites if it's not a great review? Thanks for any thoughts.
(Here's my review.)
I think that review would be fine to go on NG Sarah. But if you don't wish to, click on 'I will not be giving feedback on this title'. Then put that it wasn't for you. That's fine to do that as obviously not all books suit everyone :)
Thanks Brenda! I’ve just been for a drive to the library and back and have decided I’m probably over-thinking it. I’m going to pare my review back to the factual and objective. Not how I usually review, but I don’t want to put what’s a perfectly acceptable book down because of my genre-bias.
I think it's alright to say that a book doesn't appeal to you as long as you give reasons. Your review looks very fair and won't put off readers who enjoy romances (clearly the target demographic for this book) and will let the publishers know that the who enjoy a more solid historical novel might not be as interested. And after all a three star rating isn't bad.If I finish a book I prefer to let the publisher know why I'm not rating it highly than to say I won't be reviewing it - but that's always an option if you really don't want to write a review.
Lee wrote: "Oh, I've given lots of bad reviews. *snort*"Ha ha - me too, Lee! I just haven't had it crop up with a NetGalley review before, because I usually only request or choose titles I'm pretty sure I'll like.
P.S. I've just review-stalked you - I see what you mean! "Thinky thoughts" LOL! (I think we have a shared antipathy towards many cosy mysteries and Christmas romances!)

Hee. I could rant much more I'm sure.

So excited, I've been approved for Elly Griffiths's upcoming release The Night Hawks (Ruth Galloway #13). I love this series! I have a feeling someone's already posted about this one earlier on the thread, but release date is 4 Feb 2021, and there's an embargo on reviews until January.

Lucky you!
I am still three books away from that one but it is nice to know Griffiths is still writing them. More to look forward to:)

I'm only up to book #5 in series order reading, but I did read and review The Lantern Men (#12) earlier in the year from Netgalley. I'll re-read these later ones when I get to them chronologically. Can't wait to start reading, but must clear December list first!

I'm not asking for it. There's no way I want to jump ahead in this series. I am enjoying the character development way too much:)
