14 chapters to go to end of reading. You must have been reading as I was typing because I added more~

I am thinking of reading this a bit faster so I can finish it next week along with the other Buddy read I am doing. Our next two sections are shorter...and my other buddy read will only be about 250 pages next week. That will fit in with the planned Read-a-thon next week.

Some thoughts on part 3
(view spoiler)[Dalinar definitely improved as he grew older. I really felt sorry for Evi.
When the men were getting all their communications via spanreed and the women, I was thinking how clever of the women to keep the men from reading and writing so they controlled all the communication!
The characters all have blood on their hands now. (hide spoiler)]

I quit reading a couple of days ago, but I will catch up today.

If everyone is OK with speeding up the reading, I suggest that Tuesday be the end of Part IV and Friday be the end of the book. Would this work for everyone?

Are y'all talking about the quotes at the head of each chapter indicating it is from a certain drawer with a certain gem?

After reading Interludes + Part IV

(view spoiler)[I like finding out more about Shadesmar. It's an interesting place. I was surprised to hear the spren have cities, but it does make sense. The journey through Shadesmar sounds difficult.

Shallan still struggles with herself. It's weird how some of her other personalities take over at random times.

I'm enjoying the chapters about the training of Szeth. Is he going to be a radiant?

Dalinar's fight with the bloodlust is strong again. The situation with the other rules seems bad. I'm not sure if they will trust him again.

I didn't see it coming that the people are the invaders and not the parshmen. (hide spoiler)]

Don't be surprised if I finish the book tonight or tomorrow...I'm really into the story now. I had to stop reading because I had to leave for an appointment. I'm going to read again now. I want to find out what happens next.

I have now finished part four.
(view spoiler)[I also enjoyed the Szeth chapters and learning about Shadesmar and the spren at home.
I am glad that Adolin has finally admitted to Shallan that he killed Sadeas.
It makes sense that the humans were the original invaders. After all the world isn't much like the real human world, is it? It does make it even worse that they made slaves of the Parshmen.
I still have trouble relating to Dalinar. I don't have much in common with him. I do like the way Bridge Four behave when guarding him.
Things are definitely not looking good at this point. (hide spoiler)]

I am behind by 50 pages ~ should have been done with that yesterday. Hopefully, I will finish today...and be ready to start the last part.

I am beginning to think that Dalinar has to die in these books. I did note that the chapters showing us what has happened to him in the past are getting closer to present day. I think the last one was only 6 years ago.

I wonder if Adolin becomes king...and Kaladin and Shallan become wed.

I like some of the spren....Stormfather, the one trying to help Shallan rather than kill her, Pattern, Syl.

What do you think of that picture that Kaladin saw with the 9 dark lines and a white line bent over...the 9 Radiants and ? (hide spoiler)]

Starting the last section. I have been reading in this book all day and am beginning to need a break. I will read the interludes and then leave part 5 to begin tomorrow.

I need to return this book to the library first thing tomorrow so I can't put off my final thoughts any longer.
(view spoiler)[I was so glad that Jasnah became queen - a much better idea than Adolin or Dalinar as king.
I can quite see than Shallan would marry the one that knew her for herself rather than one of her illusions. As love triangles went it wasn't too tiresome.
I think the best bit was when Adolin's blade gained enough life to tell him her name. He must have hated the way the others all had living spren for their blades and he had the reminder the whole time they were in Shadesmar that his blade was a dead spren.
I am still not sure what happened to the heralds (or who the remaining heralds were).
I think in the next book the humans and the parshmen will get even more mixed together. (hide spoiler)]

So, Coralie, reading your final note reminded me that I have not yet recorded my own thoughts.

(view spoiler)[I agree that Jasnah as Queen seemed the right choice, although I had not thought of that at all. I was pleasantly surprised that Adolin got up the nerve to refuse the kingship, though. I did not think he had that kind of strength.

Shallan and Adolin felt right once she began to consolidate who she was as Shallan.

I particularly liked how her Shallan, Veil, and Radiant selves supported each other as she fought and began to be incorporated into one being. (hide spoiler)]

I felt this book ended with hope for the future even though the threat of more destruction continues. I will be interested to see how the characters continue to develop, although 7 more books seems like more than will be needed.

Bea, I suspect some of the books will be set in the future with different characters. I could be wrong though, but that's my guess.

This reminds me I still hven't written down my thoughts.

(view spoiler)[I also liked the choise of Jasnah as Queen. I think she would enjoy it and will be good at it. It would have made Adolin be unhappy to be king. I also thought Adolin would accept kinship, despite it not being what he wanted.

Usually love triangles annoy me, but this one was alright lol I'm glad Shallan choose for Adolin. He is a better match for her than Kaladin.

Bea, I also loved that part where Shallan, Veil and Radiant support each other after the fight.

I wonder how the sword of Adolin could come alive again. Probably because the shren is damaged but still there. Like the one they met in shadesmar. (hide spoiler)]
