Do you think that it was wrong of Tessa to get together with Jem after Will died?

Do you think that she should have dated Jem while she was still mourning Will?

Didn't anyone think it was wrong Tessa and Will slept together a few hours after Jem "died"? You know, instead of respecting and mourning his memory--especially considering Tessa was his fiancee and Will his best friend/parabatai?

Honestly, it miffs me whenever people skip over that little detail and act as if it's in the wrong for Jem and Tessa to end up together, in the end. At least Will was ACTUALLY DEAD, and for a good amount of years (71, at that), too--as opposed to a few hours.

I really mean no disrespect, btw--I was once a hardcore Will Herondale/Wessa fan until Clockwork Prince (Jem--and his relationship with Tessa--won my heart by then, and completely dominated it at the end of Clockwork Princess): So I get it. But, still. Understand that if anything was "wrong" with Jessa's ending, Wessa's way of getting together wasn't anything less in its "wrongness".

Okay personally, I loved the book but I thought it was complete bull that she freaking screwed Will after Jem died. Like literally, and a moment later she was all apologetic towards Jem, when he wasn't dead.

I really don't think you can love to people equally.

I thought it was wrong, but I also understand she had to move on, after all it had been like over 100 years. I just don't like what she did in the past

yeah... You are completely right.

You can also think of it this way: the three of them loved each other so much, Tessa loved Jem just as much as Will, Jem loved Will just as much as Tessa, and Will loved Jem just as much as Tessa. In a way Jem and Will were two people with one soul- two sides of one person. They are (all all three of them) inexplicably connected in every way imaginable, the love the three of them share is one I have never encountered before, and probably never will- it is that powerful.

It didn't really bother me since I shipped Jessa and Wessa. Plus Will died in the late 19th century and Jem and her didn't get together till the end of Clockwork Princess which is in the year 2006 so I don't have a problem with it since Will and Tessa were together over 2 centuries ago

I still have mixed feelings on this. Tessa loved both Will and Jem. If Will were to be asked of his approval on this, I think he would agree. He had a share of his lifetime of love and happiness with Tessa, so I think he'd give Jem his chance with Tessa too. And if it's okay with Will, it's okay with me. :)

At first i was kind of like 'what about Will?' but coming to think of it Will would have wanted this to happen.
and another reason this wasn't wrong is that Will and Tessa got married just after Jem and Tessa got engaged.
it been centuries since Will past away and Tessa had to move on (that not to say she doesn't still love him).and people get remarried alot of times after their husband/wife past away, so what so wrong with this one?

If you look at the overall picture, everything worked out in the end. All three books covered that subject
rather well when they defined how that love triangle was put together.

Love is never simple. So i think it's okay. Their story is one of my most favorite because it was filled with real love. At the first book, Tessa and Jem already shared something special while Tessa is conflicted with her feelings with Will (which is very understandable since Will is a pro at pushing others away). It just so happened that Tessa love Will in a "he's the one" way. But Will love Jem, and it goes both ways. That's why when it was Jem Tessa chose first Will let it happen because he cared for both of them. So with the three of them connected with that kind of love, what happened was far from wrong. It was beautiful.

No, I don't think it was wrong for her to get back together with Jem after Will died because if you think about it, it was almost wrong that she dated, married and had kids with Will after she was engaged to Jem. So it's the same thing really.
Plus in the UK version of CoHF, Jem and Tessa's wedding is a comic in the end of it and Will is there in spirit and he supports it.

I honestly have no problem with Tessa moving on after Will died. Its just like if someone is married and then unfortunately their spouse dies, does that mean they are doomed to be alone forever. No. They eventually move on. What I DID have a problem with, however, is the way that Clare portrayed this love affair like it was a threesome (not in a sexual way). But I mean like saying she loved Jem and Will the same. Nope dont buy that. Her love for Will is complemented by her love for Jem and visa versa becauase they are parabatai. Nope. Dont buy that. I would have rather she made them distinct. Tessa loves Will because she loves Will and who he is. And she loves Jem in a different way and for different reasons. I in no way believe you can love two people the same. And I would not want someones love for me to be complemeted by their love for another. Even if that meant they loved me more. It just taints it to me. Idk thats just my opinion.

Will watched as his beloved was engaged to his parabatai.
Jem watched as his former fiance married his parabatai.
Neither complained - they only felt the joy of seeing the two people they loved most be happy. It was only right that they both got to spend a lifetime with Tessa.

And there was also Tessa to think about. Like Magnus said, warlocks had all loved and lost, but none were half as hopelessly faithful as Tessa. Will and Jem will be the only boys she'd ever love. Eternity is a long time to spend alone. She has two mortal lifetimes with two boys she loves, and the rest she'll have to spend alone. Would you really take one away from her?

Nope, Not at all. I think that Will would have wanted that actually.

It didn't really bother me since I like both of them but yeah, it take a long time to be okay with it. Honestly, I think it take sense, The three of them shared so much that you can't imagine another end.

i mean Jem approved of Wills love for her when he was unable to have her, so I think Will would feel the same way with Jem. Its like if one of them can't have her, they are happy the other can. Its what I call true parabati

if you are thinking it was wrong, you don't understand they relationship at all.

No. Tessa got together with Will after Jem "died" so why would it be any different to get together with Jem after Will died?

yes!
I personally think Clare is trying to hard to make a happy ending for everyone. end the story.

I think it was beautiful how she got together with Jem in the end. It's healthy for people to move on after a certain time since their spouse has passed, and I think that a couple of centuries is much longer than anyone else has done :P Tessa loved them both, and her relationship with Jem lets her be with someone who understands her entire story. And what I found the best part about it is that it lets her to continue loving Will through loving Jem.

No because its been a long time and if she lives together she should live it and move on! And she loved Jem just as much as she loved Will!!

No I don't believe it was wrong of her to be with Jem after Will died, as I don't believe a person who has been widowed shouldn't get married again. Since Will died she should move on and not crawl into the grave with him. Plus the whole immortality thing just strengthens my point: she will probably live for a really long time and she should find people to love otherwise her entire existancee would be without meaning.

I believe that it was not wrong.
I am not saying that I will ever become a supporter of jessa but I accept that she had to move on and she loves jem. no matter what she had with will( the best romance eveh!) she still loved him and I think that all three of them new and excepted that.

I love Tessa and will as a couple, although Tessa deserved to be happy. And don't you thing that I hate Will, I'm in love with him. Jem is so good and sweet. They let much time until they got together. In conclusion I think that it is god. Everyone hast to have the opportunity to be happy.

Couldn't you also say it was wrong of her to date and marry Will when she was previously engaged to Jem?

Alyssa wrote: "Do you think that she should have dated Jem while she was still mourning Will?"
I am not a Jessa shipper, but I was neutral (or, maybe, even happy) about their relationship after Will's death. I am sure Tessa will love Will forever, and it would not interfere in her feelings to Jem. Though these two loves are different, they exist in symbiosis.
I don't even have any idea on how we in our ordinary world can understand and sense love, friendship, emotions, sufferings, etc. of all that immortal supernatural characters. It's some king of human magic, isn't it?

What bothered me was that they all claimed to love each other yet the continued to hurt each other. Will specifically said that he couldn't be with Tess because he knew it would hurt Jem. Jem also made it pretty obvious when he was a silent brother that he didn't want to hear about the details between Tess and Will's relationship. Will was obviously hurting when Tess was engaged to Jem, and then Jem just gets back together with her in the end. And I think if Will found it that Jem and Tessa had been meeting once a year behind his back, he would also be hurt, because I think he really missed Jem too and would have wanted to be able to meet him as well. So basically, I do think it was wrong and she should have chose one or neither.

Was is wrong to screw will when James died? If so what Tessa and James did is right.
She is immortal and has to move on.
She could have spent time tracking her descendants but she would rather hole up in some maze while some whack job (Valentine) kidnaps her grandson.
I like the odds of her with James better than leaving her to herself.
Although I would love if James could only find some nice girl who is not Tessa.she is the only person who was a link to his past, so he deserves to have someone who can love him.

It was a little wrong, she treated Jem like a backup. I mean who does that.

No it wasn't wrong of Tess to move on with Jem AFTER Will Died. She's immortal, was she supposed to stay in mourning forever? Plus Will would have trusted no one else with her. Jem was his best friend and knew he loved Tess with the same intensity he loved her. Will had a full life with Tess. Why would he want her to be lonely after he was gone?

I personally would have been happy if they found a way to make Will immortal so he could stay with Tessa forever. although I am not against Jem and Tesse, I wasn't too happy with their relationship many years after Will died.

Nope, nothing wrong with her hooking up with Jem after Will died. I mean, she did wait for like a hundred years or so, didn't she?

No I am a team Jem and I think it was cute how she got to have both of them

Yes because she wanted to be with Jem. She was with Will since he was there and then he finally died thank goodness because I hated him. Then Jem is cured and they finally get their second chance! Hopefully Jem is actually immortal somehow.

Well for me nope. If I was Will and claimed to have loved Tessa so much, I wouldn't want her to spend eternity alone. I will want Tessa to have happiness as much as she could without me by her side. Also as we all know from reading books that those who have eternal lives without someone anchoring them turns evil. And if the situation was reversed I think Jem would do the same.

I hated it. It was SO wrong. Like, girl, stick to one man. I mean, she would go meet him once a year! It was like she was cheating on Will for years! And that's kind of unfair!

I don't think it was wrong but I don't really agree with it either. I understand she's immortal and wouldn't want to be alone for the rest of her life. I even understand that she loves Jem and Will would want her to move on with Jem. However, from my point of view, it's like having two favourite toys, not playing with one for a long time and then suddenly playing with it again because the other one broke.

No. I dont think it was wrong, and I also think in some way Tessa will always mourn Will. I believe she was destined and connected to both boys. She was with will and shared a wonderful life, and now she is on to the next chapter of her (immortal) life. I think one of the biggest themes through out the series isn't the individual love they all share, but the love that is shared between the three of them, in complete equal parts. So with that, it seems fitting that she would now be with Jem. I think Will would whole heatledly approve. Will had her past, and now Jem can have her future...

This is a tough one! But, I think, if you view it from Tessa's point of view, she loved them both and both of them loved her. Though Tessa and Will got married and had kids, Tessa is...well..immortal. She's not bound by time unlike ordinary human beings. She's also not bound by normal traditions of mourning one's husband for 6 months or so before dating someone else after. Commitment for her takes on another meaning entirely since she's immortal. When Will died and Tessa got in touch with Jem again, it was a way for them to get together without the guilt since Will is dead. Also, Will would've wanted Tessa to be with Jem instead of just any other guy. Also, if Tessa didn't go after Jem, there's a possibility they might never meet again. They were given a second chance to be together. If I were Tessa, I would've done the same thing.
