claire took her bag off of their shoulders and hung it over the back of a chair next to the one amethyst had selected.

"so Claire wait is that your name? im really forgetful sorry anyways what are your abilities? I'm a frost..."
claire took out her lunch and started eating. they nodded "mhm," she said when the girl asked their name.
things clicked into place in claires mind when amethyst stated her ability. she wanted to ask why the other girl wore gloves, but they thought that it might come across as rude or prying. besides, why would she talk if they didnt have to?
when amethyst asked what claires ability was, she quickly stated, "I'm a polyglot and a hydrokinetic."

She so badly wanted to tell Claire about ..."
((i finally had time!!!)
claire blushed. she didnt usually talk to people, so they werent quite used to receiving compliments from anyone except her parents. they felt flattered that amethyst thought being a hydrokinetic would be cool, but she said anyway, "its not as cool as you'd think. it takes a lot of concentration and focus (which i usually don't have) to not flood the whole room while practicing."
"hey, at least your one ability is a cool one. i may as well only have one, what with how little i use my polyglot ability." claire was usually at school or at home and didn't have much time to interact with other species, let alone in their own languages. they always believed that the reason she got a second ability was to compensate for the uselessness of their first one.

haylee grins and says," thank you! i think that being a conjurer would be really cool as well!"

Moria walked in, looking behind her as her two other classmates (For she didn't actually call them friends quite yet). She walked towards the lunch line, because she couldn't really bring her own food.
Nina walked behind Marisa, piling some pastries and a spiky yellow fruit onto her tray. She glanced up as they reached the end of the line, wondering if the two girls would let her sit with her.

She walked to an empty table, and looked back at the other girls. Would they join her? She was beginning to like their company, even if they were probably two years her senior, and while she did not fully trust them, she was starting to think these would be nicer elves than others she could mention.

Nina walked over and set her tray down. She took a bite of one of her pastries, and looked up at the other girls, wondering what they were talking about.

"Oh, I have Ability Training." Nina smiled at Marisa. "What about you?"

A teacher who happened to overhear this looked at Moria from across the room. Moria would have said something rather crude in that moment if the teacher wouldn't have heard it anyway.
"Yeah. That sounds...interesting." Nina winced a bit and smiled sympathetically, hoping that was the right response to Moria's words. "I'm just a phaser, so I don't get any of those kinds of lectures. I do get a lot of lectures about sneaking into places I shouldn't, though."
"Yeah, I bet. What ability do you have?" Nina asked curiously.
"Oh. Okay," Nina smiled supportively, hoping Moria wasn't one of those people who were mean to people who didn't have an ability yet. She didn't think she would be, but you never knew.

She raised her sliced eyebrow and leaned back, although given that she was on a bench, she had to use her core muscles to keep herself from flopping on the floor. Her unsaid response gave the impression she was saying "Go on...." Not imposing, just a cool curiosity.
Nina paused and took a bite of pastry, surprised at how comfortable she felt with these people. Normally she always felt awkward and out of place, but with them it somehow felt...different.
((So, do you all want to have them, idk, go on an adventure or something? Or would you rather they just hung out like we've been having them do?))
((So, do you all want to have them, idk, go on an adventure or something? Or would you rather they just hung out like we've been having them do?))

Moria realized that she herself didn't know what she meant by her unspoken statement. She floundered a bit trying to figure out something.
"umm," she started, "like, what do you do when you don't have ability classes?" it was the first thing that came to her mind, and she wanted to slap herself for how it came out. Geez, Elvin society looked down on talentless. How was she supposed to...
Old habits kicked in and all of these thoughts did not show on Moria's face, which was kept in a look of friendly curiosity.
Nina looked between her friends as they talked, feeling as if she should say something, but not sure what to say. Finally she just blurted out, "So, um, what do you like to do in your free time?" and hoped she hadn't just ruined her relationship with these two people. She honestly had no idea what she was doing.
((Yeah, i think an adventure would be pretty cool. Do you have any idea what it should be about?))
((Yeah, i think an adventure would be pretty cool. Do you have any idea what it should be about?))

Moria nodded, but couldn't fully comprehend why someone would shop as a pass-time. Stores had always been off-limits to her. When her parents were on the run, she couldn't just walk into a store as she technically "didn't exist," and now she could only buy "approved" things for school.
Moria realized they were probably expecting her to answer as well. She started to talk, but stopped herself. What could she say? "I spend my time in a house the size of a matchbox that is basically a prison and all I can do is study?"
((I'm fine trying your idea, Nicoletta. I don't really have any other ideas anyway, lol))

Another girl bounced up to the table. She was clearly a first year, but looked like one of those girls who's goal in life was to make as many friends as possible, and didn't care if you were a complete stranger and had ears pointier than cactus needles. Moria had seen her sitting at a different table each lunch break, making friends like it was second nature, and talking with others a lot. Moria groaned in her head, "This is going to be painful..."
The new girl looked at them, "Anyone else sitting here? Can I join? I'm Trinity, by the way."
"Oh, um, yeah, you can sit here," Nina said, hoping Moria and Marisa wouldn't mind that she was letting this girl sit with them. "I'm, uh, Nina." she gave the girl a small smile and then looked back down at her tray, fiddling with edge of her cape.

Trinity sat down, "Nice to meet y'all."
She continued, "I kinda overheard y'guys talking about what classes you have next. I also have Ability Detecting." She looked at the girl who just introduced herself, "I heard today is going to be intense. wait a minute, I think I have seen you in that class before. Anyway." She turned back to everyone, "What are your favorite colors? Animals? Dream Abilities?"
"Um, well, I, um, like purple," Nina stuttered out before clamping her mouth shut. She could feel a burning blush creeping up her face, and felt like sinking through her seat and hiding under the table. She was really bad at this, wasn't she?

Trinity suddenly turned to Moria, "Oh gosh, I forgot about you didn't I? I'm sorry. You look familiar though...Elvin History maybe?"
"Moria," Moria replied tersely, "And my favorite color is orange."

“What happened to the lights?” Trinity said, confused, “Did something just block the current and make it blink?”
Moria looked at her quizzically. She hadn’t noticed anything.
"I don't think so..." Nina murmured. She glanced down and saw her hand was phasing through her seat, and quickly pulled it out. Her ability always acted up when she was nervous.

"Kinda like me" Moria thought, "but I do it out of instinct. Better to mesmerize than to be mesmerized."
Trinity shrugged, "Probably nothing, but that is the third time this has happened today."
Trinity suddenly squinted, looking up, "It's as if the lights seem to be dimming." She rubbed her eyes, trying to clear whatever was clouding her vision, "I guess I'm just tired." She changed the subject, "So, whatcha guys' least favorite subjects, other than Elvin History cuz, y'know..."
"I'm not very good at Elementalism, so probably that." Nina managed a small smile after she spoke, relaxing just the tiniest bit.
Nina opened her mouth and then shut it. She wanted to reassure Marisa, but she just didn't know what to say. By then the moment was almost over, and Nina still hadn't responded. Finally she just attempted to give Marisa a small smile and hoped that was enough.

Trinity turned to Nina, "Ugh, ya, Elementalism is on my top 3 least favorite. Isn't the professor for that, goshwhatshername, like, not helpful?" Then to Marisa, "Yeah, I get that too. Listen, you got time. I've met a bunch of people who thought they would be talentless until they manifested at like, the last possible moment. Arg!" Trinity clutched her eyes again, "The light's dimming again!" She removed her hands and tried to blink, "I can't see!" She all but screamed.
