I am checking that in the captains group. Since I was asking, I decided to ask about Fangirl too. We should get an answer soon!

Diana Costa | 1027 comments Not so good news is that When All Is Said by Anne Griffin cannot be used for 22. Glasses in the cover, because there must be two or more glasses in the cover, since it’s written in plural :( however, it will go great into the story Cyndee. :)

Same here. My husband and I had planned to go to Peoria, AZ, to visit 3 of our grandkids and 3 of our greats. I was SO SAD to have to cancel!!!

Diana Costa | 1027 comments For the tasks in the mini challenge, we just have to provide a nice explanation for things. Someone asked if Love Hard (Hard Play, #3) by Nalini Singh could count for work tools because the main character is a rugby player. The answer is just for us to be sensible and to go with our feeling. So, "work tools" don't have to be hammers or scissors or whatever, and in the case of Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell , the main character writes fanfiction, so a computer is her work tool. If everybody agrees, we can use it for that task. If not, then Corrupt Bodies Death and Dirty Dealing in a London Morgue by Peter Everett should definitely work. What do you puddings think?

Gem ~ZeroShelfControl~ (zeroshelfcontrol) | 574 comments I say it fits perfectly 😉

Ok my sweet puddings, I believe my focus for the rest of this week can be on the books I need here. I've got When All Is Said (Blue 5) started and should finish today. I'm starting Gone for Good (Yellow 9) this afternoon.

Oky doky!

I found a book with a blanket on the cover! I'll finish the one for Drink on the cover and Blanket on the cover until the end of month!

Here's how the Mini is looking:

Jen, can you please tell us if you finished "Restore Me" after the countdown so that we can use it on the mini challenge?
18. Read a book that is tagged science-fiction. — Jen's already read book if finished after countdown

1. Read a book with a drink on the cover. — Diana / Two down, bun to go
2. Read a book with a blanket on the cover. — Diana /
11. Read a book where a character has a dog. — Cyndee /
16. Read a book with any kind of ship on the cover. — Tina / Playing the Odds
19. Read a book with work tools on the cover. — Gem / Fangirl or Other
22. Read a book with glasses (for drinking) on the cover.

So, we are basically missing a book with glasses on the cover -- it has to be more than two one (sorry!)! Anyone?

I didn't see your comment before writing mine! Any chance you have a short book at hand with glasses for drinking on the cover? :)

Is there any chance you remember if you finished reading them during the day? Anytime after 5 am works :)

And don’t worry about Black girl unlimited! There’s always a spot we can use. It’s already in our main and mini :)

Not a specific task, but we still have 23 books left to read. So every book is welcome now, feel free to choose! :)
And the spreadsheet is updated, it's just that the last couple of rows are dated from the 15th because I'm waiting to hear from Jen if we can use those books for the mini :) If you check the tabs March and March Mini Challenge, every book is there. :)

Oh, maybe you're looking at the Final spreadsheet! Just check our March tab in the Tracking Spreadsheet: here . Can you see the hands and the cards now?

I finished When All Is Said. I noticed that several of you have it on your TBR. If you've read and loved A Man Called Ove I think you would enjoy this book. 😊

It's just a mistake in which title, probably because they are right beside each other and with the same completion date on the tracking log and titles start with the same letter. The one for hand seven (that's marked 4th in the series) should be Soulless. Good catch!

Looks like we still need about 8 books that can be used to create our story for the mini.

Tawni (tawnimarie) | 122 comments Hey everyone, we’re in the middle of a move (yes, during lockdown — the timing could be better), and have been without internet for the past week. Sorry for the radio silence. With everything that’s been going on for us I’ve not had time to read as much as I would have liked. I’m nearly finished with The Trial though, and hope that it meets a need somewhere for us for March!

message 439: by Diana (new)

Diana Costa | 1027 comments Jen wrote: "How many more books do we need before thw end of the month? Or are we pretty much planned to be done?"

Hey Jen, I really need an answer to this question, as I was really hoping we could finish the mini challenge. I'll make a summary of where we currently stand in a couple of minutes.

message 440: by Diana (new)

Diana Costa | 1027 comments Hey puddings, what a strange month it's been. At this moment we have 3 days and roughly 17 hours until the end of the month (I'll add a countdown in one of the first posts on this thread).

At the moment we have 20 spots left on the main challenge, and unfortunately it seems unlikely that we will be able to finish it. I'll try to make good use of our Skip cards in order to be able to indeed skip some, and get as much points as we possibly can at the end.

However, I would like if we could finish the mini challenge. At the moment we have:
21/25 tasks done. Missing:
- Blanket on the cover - Diana CR
- Character with a dog - Cyndee
- Work tools on the cover - Gem
- Book tagged Sci-Fi - pending on Jen's answer.

8/15 story titles. Here's the list:
Looking for Alaska
Mercy
The Color Purple
All Grown Up
Black Girl Unlimited
Untouchable
When All is Said
Gone for Good

We should start thinking about the general idea for our story. The rules say "Once you have everything you need to get ready, tell us a little story, why don't you?
A little anticipation on what you expect to encounter in your preparations, or your travels. Maybe a crazy mishap during your travels, maybe a totally wonderful yet incredibly unbelievable romance..."
Remember that the theme should be *perky space travel*.

message 441: by Diana (new)

Diana Costa | 1027 comments Cyndee, I'll have to take Gone for Good to the captain's group. The fact that there is not one main setting can be a problem, even though they all start with N.
Also, is there a reason why you had the location for Gone for Good and When All Is Said in red? Or was it just so that I was aware that that was the number I had to use for the coloured cards?

message 442: by Noel (new)

Noel Diem (noeldiem) | 228 comments I will read as fast and as much as I can this weekend to cover some of the gaps! Let me know is anyone can’t do their task for the mini and I will try to take it on!

The large majority of the story takes place in New York (I'd say 80%). I'm sorry if I messed us up. If they rule it doesn't work, I'll read another one that works for Yellow 9 before the end of the month.

I have a personal tracking sheet that I use as I'm reading to add the character, place, etc. info into as I'm reading the books so I don't miss anything. I had put those locations in red on my personal sheet to let myself know that I'm committed to the team for those books for that reason. I just copy and paste from my tracker to the team one when I'm done. I just forgot to make the text black again before doing so.

I will be done with my Green 5/character with dog book (Honor's Debt) by the end of the month (I started it this morning so should have it finished tomorrow).

For purposes of planning the story, I will let you know that before the deadline, I will also have the following titles to contribute:

The Chalk Man
Queen of Klutz
Knight & Play

Unless I have to re-read a different Yellow 9, in which case one of the bottom 2 would have to change.

Oh, but 80% is main setting then :) I thought maybe it was evenly distributed, like one small chapter here, another small chapter there. But in this case, there won't be a problem. *phew* :)

Alright! I thought it really was just a way of marking where things were going. All solved then!

The only kind of open spot is the one for "book taggef sci-fi". I don't have any of those with me. If you do, and want to read it, I think we would be safer. :)
