All books are already on the *tracking* SS!We have at the moment
Whatever you read, I am sure we can put it somewhere on the main. My biggest concern now is really the mini challenge. When you pick your next book focus on the cover and see if you can find one of the missing words from this list and let us know please.
Gem ~Zero Shelf Control~ wrote: "Im just working on it now. I googled avant garde (favouring or introducing new and experimental ideas and methods) and im pretty sure no pudding ever has those particular fruits all in the same dis..."Oh Gem, our expert in baking :) I was only able to add *gloves*, but I don't think we have to use the words to begin with. Just a recipe and we should be good to go. Nonetheless, now it would be fun to have lady and moon :)
Another thing, do you think you can convert the tart into a pudding?
Gem ~Zero Shelf Control~ wrote: "we can call it a pudding tart, as there are savory tarts?"I am not the expert, but that sounds good to me!
I found a book with stars and fruit on the cover...
anyone wants to take it to cover "starfruit"?Also, is everybody happy with our (actually Gem's -- thank you!!) Recipe? :) May we submit it?
Noel wrote: "You don’t sound too excited about said book..."That's because I only found it online, my library doesn't have it :'(
My library has the book but not the audio book. If we cant find a different book that meets the criteria i will take one for the team haha that book was just released 6/2019
I can read Storm Glass
Main: 1, 4, 6, SKIP
Mini: glass, plate, stomach, white. 6 - Published June 19th 2018
and
Sweet Fate
Main: 2, 6, SKIP
Mini: glass, orange, plate, stomach, white.
I could see using starfruit for the color, but would a color work for cornflour since it is spelled differently? The color is cornflower.
Thanks for doing the recipe Gem!!
The limes were actual limes (I was really proud of myself for that one) but I definitely think we could just do the color for star fruits. Not sure about cornflour. I’ll take it to the captain’s group!
Thanks Noel! I'm reading a book now that will work for cornflour/cornflower if they allow the color.
Sadly, it seems the trend is a no for the blue. Most people are using a pale yellow for cornflour and a brighter yellow for starfruit.
Noel wrote: "Sadly, it seems the trend is a no for the blue. Most people are using a pale yellow for cornflour and a brighter yellow for starfruit."Thanks Noel! That settles it then: pale yellow + bright yellow covers will cover cornflour and starfruit. I also found a 120 page book and already have it :) So:
needs update: check below
bananas -- Cyndee
cornflour=pale yellow cover
pen -- Gem
starfruit=bright yellow cover
3
6 -- Tina w/ Storm Glass
24
120 -- Diana
270 -- Cyndee
Noel, I must be missing something. I have 10 books on the SS (green one). If I am missing something else I don’t know what I’m supposed to do. I am leaving for Vegas in about four hours so if you can give me a link or help me somehow I would appreciate it.
I am currently reading Sisters by Choice and will have that finished today. It has 336 pages, so would that count for a number three? Or does it have to be in the publication date? I’m sorry to ask but I’m on my phone and I can’t search very well on my phone. It also is a pale yellow if someone wants to check & see if it’s the right color if we still need it
Vicki wrote: "I am currently reading Sisters by Choice and will have that finished today. It has 336 pages, so would that count for a number three? Or does it have to be in the publication date? Also numbers should be taken as a whole, at least that’s how I understood it, so for example 3 needs to be filled with either the month or the day of publication or the series number.
Sisters by choice will work for glass, I was able to get a sample from amazon :)
Hmm it says be creative, so could we use Sisters By Choice for 3 since there are 3 women on the cover?
I can also read "Three Lives" by Gertrude Stein if we want to use Vicki's for "Glass" like Diana suggested. Just let me know where I'm needed. I've finished American Psycho!
Noel wrote: "I can also read "Three Lives" by Gertrude Stein if we want to use Vicki's for "Glass" like Diana suggested. Just let me know where I'm needed. I've finished American Psycho!"
But the categories for numbers are just series number, page number and date published! Numbers in text or title or on the cover do not count! So we’ll go with glass.
I also just finished Tea with Milk and Murder. It’s been ages since I read a cozy mystery. They are so cute.
I’m moving on to Ethan Frome for 120 :)

OH NO! Ethan Frome, although has 120 pages and is not classified as a children’s book, is under 25k words. I don’t think we can use it. Bummer! Too late to figure this out now. I’ll plan something else in the morning :(
Diana, I'm pretty sure we can use Ethan Frome. According to the rules "Books must be more than 100 pages in length and Children's books, Graphic Novels, Manga, Cook Books, Plays and Poetry books can not be used unless by word count they can be verified as more than 25,000 words using arbookfind.com or more than 3 hours of audio using a reputable website"As long as it doesn't fall into those categories, I think we are good to go.
I am reading a book before the end of the month that is the 3rd in a series. Do we want to use that for the 3?
I finished two books and added them. I found "glass" in Sisters by Choice and stomach in DazzleDazzle also has:
"Her bare legs are milky... white" pg. 54
"...using the red pen..." pg. 67
"Mom spoons eggs on my plate" pg. 227
I'm reading a book were people get alerted 24 hrs before they Die hehe 24 appears several times in the book.
Jen wrote: "I'm reading a book were people get alerted 24 hrs before they Die hehe 24 appears several times in the book."Number categories are just date published, series number and number of pages! Even if it appears in text we cannot use it, sadly :(

I think that the categories of children’s books, manga, etc need to be verified to guarantee more than 25k words and the other “regular” categories are already viewed as a “pass” because they are *believed* to have more than 25k words as long as they are more than 100 pages. This happened another year and I took the question to the captain’s group so I’ll check what I can find today as a replacement.

Vicki you haven’t replied to my question yet: you used “The child finder” for "vanilla" in the mini challenge but the excerpt you wrote on the tracking spreadsheet mentions sugar and cinnamon. I assume there is another sentence with vanilla, correct?
How can you find out how many words are in a book? I want to read The Thirty-Nine Steps by John Buchan :)
Tawni wrote: "How can you find out how many words are in a book? I want to read The Thirty-Nine Steps by John Buchan :)"We use arbookfind! (40594 words! Good to go! :D)
Diana wrote: "Tawni wrote: "How can you find out how many words are in a book? I want to read The Thirty-Nine Steps by John Buchan :)"We use arbookfind! (40594 words! Good to go! :D)"
We usually just check the word count for children’s books, cookbooks etc, but when I opened Ethan Frome I had a feeling it was far from the 25k and decided to choose another book. I found one by Virginia Woolf with 120 pages. (And looots of words :) )
I’m going to have to move things around, so:- Tina, Sweet Fate will now cover 2 (#2 in series)
- Gem, Harry Potter will cover 3 (#3 in series)
- Cyndee, does your “3” fit any of the following open spots?
bananas -- Cyndee
cornflour=pale yellow cover -- Noel
starfruit=bright yellow cover -- Cyndee
2 -- Tina
3 -- Gem
6 -- Tina w/ Storm Glass
24 -- Cyndee
120 -- Diana
270 -- Cyndee
The one that was 3rd in a series doesn't, but I'll also be reading this one that might count for one of the yellow covers...starfruit perhaps?
I also have a book on my TBR that I was really hoping to get to soon, and it was published on May 24th 2018...that would work for 24, correct?

Looks starfruit-y to me :)
And that works for 24!
Do you want to/can you read those two? I don't want it to be too much of a burden on you :)

No burden at all. I had already planned on the first before the end of the month for another challenge, and the other is only 251 pages so I can knock it out in a day.

It's there. :) It's on the SS for kiwi.
