Bri | 3 comments I cannot remember most of this book. I read it years ago when I was living abroad, and found it on a bookshelf. Each chapter had a different theme...I somewhat remember redheads, family/farm life, not coming of age but more of a narrative of raising children. I'll never forget "when caught red handed..."...and I want to read it again. Any help is appreciated!

So a humorous nonfiction take on the life of one family? How many years ago did you read it? Did it seem old-fashioned or new, then?

Bri | 3 comments I think that's right. I read it in 2004, I believe it was new then. Seems like it would have been like an Oprah book or something.

Okay, those details are helpful. Because I was thinking along the lines of Erma Bombeck or Shirley Jackson's nonfiction books about humorous, quirky family life. Which is not what you're looking for.

Bri--if it's funny, it ain't Oprah. 99.99999% of the books she recommends are depressing as all get out. (At least, I've found them so. A book club I belonged to actually outlawed all books suggested by her for that reason.)
