Well, I'm sad to report this book fell far short of my expectations. You can find my review here.

Basically, the story wasn't a bad one, it just wasn't done well. Still, a character with my name is in it, so there is that.
For what it's worth, the second book seems to be a bit better insofar as the story goes, assuming the editing that is currently happening will fix the continuity and grammar issues.
