Monica Fastenau | 1 comments Wow, you guys have inspired me! My reading resolutions this year:

-Read 30 more Newbery books (it's on my bucket list to read every single Newbery medal winner and honor book)
-Participate in the book pairing challenge on Reading to Distraction (http://www.readingtodistraction.com/2...)
-Finish reading all the ARCs I was sent this year!

Yvonne | 6 comments My bucket list would probably be what my New Years Resolution is. I am going to read "Attract Your Ideal Weight: 8 Secrets of People Who Lose Weight and Keep It Off."(http://www.amazon.com/Attract-Your-Id...) I have been following their tour as well (http://attractyouridealweight.com/vir...)

I need to do this too! My husband calls my TBR bookcase (yes bookcase!) my pile of shame!"

I have a bookcase and a cupboard of shame!!! I can't help it - I love buying books.

message 54: by Kristie, Moderator (Retired) (new)

Kristie | 5928 comments I also plan to do some "spring cleaning" this year. I want to clean out my TBR from books that may no longer interest me and read a few that have been on there for a while.

message 55: by Veela (new)

Veela Divina (veeladivina) | 3 comments My new year's book resolution is to (really) finish one book before starting another. I've been a neurotic reader lately and I want to change that this 2015.

Also, I want to let go of my old books to have more space for amazing new releases this year!

message 56: by Shana (new)

Shana Wolfe | 38 comments I met my 2014 goal of reading 24 books. Some months I barely made it through a book others I zoomed through 3 or 4 so it all evened out in the end. :-)

2015, sticking with 24 books to read but adding the 20 books I have began to read and put down that need picked up once more and completed. I am a procrastinator and easily distracted so this new goal will focus on finishing what I start with my reading.
Who knows it might even flow into my life in other ways. Happy New year!

Great to know I'm in such excellent company Pepperpots! ;)

Jason Chapman | 22 comments I plan to read more, but I am also planning to write more. In fact more than I have doen in previous years. Its time to kick my writing career up a gear.

message 59: by Judith (new)

Judith (brownie72011) | 1876 comments Like most people I hope to put a serious dent in my 'owned-tbr' pile/nook stash. The problem with that is I have to stop buying more books. Like the huge stack of super cheap clearance books from B&N that mysteriously showed up at my house. Have no idea how that happened. **looks guiltily off to the side**

Also I'm trying to improve the quality and variety of books I'm reading. Part of this will be met by my A to Z title challenge, it worked for me last year. Hopefully some of the other reading challenges I signed up for will help as well. I've never done a reading challenge outside of a self challenge so I'm curious to see how they go

message 60: by Autumn (new)

Autumn (autumnmemory80) My New Year's Resolution for GR is to finish all the books that I am "Currently Reading," because right now it is around 26.

message 61: by Kathy (new)

Kathy | 56 comments Judith, I hear you about buying books. Big stack not read yet. And even worse I keep adding books to my to be read pile. Probably won't make it as this rate, but fun trying.

Kristie | 5928 comments Autumn wrote: "My New Year's Resolution for GR is to finish all the books that I am "Currently Reading," because right now it is around 26."

26 is definitely a lot to be reading! lol I started a new shelf called "on hold" for books that I've started and then put aside for whatever reason. Then, I know to go back to them and finish up!

message 63: by [deleted user] (new)

My goal this year is to read as many books from my to read shelf as I can, because right now it is pretty crazy! My other book related goal is to go to the bookstore once a month and buy one to two books only, instead of the usual five that I would buy in the past.

Kathy | 56 comments Janessa wrote: "My goal this year is to read as many books from my to read shelf as I can, because right now it is pretty crazy! My other book related goal is to go to the bookstore once a month and buy one to two..."

For me it is that I have two or three to be read lists and yet somehow manage to find new books that are not on either list!!! We all tell ourselves that we cannot wait for our favorite authors to publish a new book, but if they do, there goes another one on the list. I think if I was 25 this would not seem so futile as it does when I am 63!!! However, imagine the fun I will have if I can keep going!!!

message 65: by Kirsty (new)

Kirsty I only have one because I didn't read very much last year so need to give myself a kick up the bottom. The resolution is to read one book a month

I go to the book store and get one or two or the supermarkets usually do deals like 2 for £7 so i'll end up buying 4 :) but my problem is more downloading samples to my kindle or downloading free books that I know I'll either never read or will not get round to for years!

message 67: by Alex (new)

Alex (inthemorning) As a whole, I would like to read 75 books this year. From all different types of genres.

On a GoodReads note, I want to become more involved in the community and make many more friends. :)

message 68: by Ashley (new)

Ashley | 452 comments Mine is to finish A Dance with Dragons...I've never not finished a book and it's killing me that I started reading it over 5 months ago and I'm not even halfway through it :/

Those freebies are so hard to pass up!!

That stinks, Ashley! You must have to be really careful which books you choose to start in order to never not finish one. I've had a few that I've had to put down for a while (months) and then pick it up again at a later time when I'm more in the mood.

message 71: by Ashley (new)

Ashley (age1213) | 20 comments Ashley- I know what you mean! I love the Game of Thrones books, but they can be difficult to get through.

I've read some that I've really hated! I just always think...maybe it has a good ending (they never do...)

Ashley | 452 comments Ashley wrote: "Ashley- I know what you mean! I love the Game of Thrones books, but they can be difficult to get through."

I really like the first three...kind of was put off by the fourth because the characters that interested me most weren't in it so I thought I would love this one with them all there!

They really are I love a good bargain and what is a better bargain than a free book. When I first got my kindle (years and years ago) nearly all my favorite classics were free and the ones that weren't were only £1(ish)

I was the same when I read the series for the first time. The 4th book seemed kind of...flat...after the 3rd. I just re-read the series though and found the book FAR more interesting. There was a lot that I forgot because I wasn't interested.

message 76: by Deonna (new)

Deonna | 4 comments Hope to read 30 books this year!! That would be a new record for me. Also, hope to cut down on my work hours so I can do more reading.

I understand completely. So many to read, yet really happy to have Goodreads friends. Otherwise, I wouldn't know what to choose.

message 79: by Charles (new)

Charles (cbloky) | 11 comments my resolution is to find more time to read and less tv. i will continue to mix up what i read between fiction and non fiction and include more spiritual books. i also want to finish oganizining my book collections

message 80: by sonya (new)

sonya marie madden | 259 comments my aim for 2015 is to read as many books off my tbr as possible, but at least 25.

message 81: by Megan (new)

Megan (loveforbooks88) | 41 comments Trim down my TBR.

message 82: by Ericka (new)

Ericka Scott Nelson | 51 comments I'd like to read at least thirty books (not counting audio books or German books), explore some new authors, read some books on my tbr list, make some actual progress on my dissertation, and finish the Harry Potter series in German (barely started book four).

message 83: by Melissa (new)

Melissa Eisenmeier (carpelibrumbooks) I want to read more. Facebook's been distracting me, and I've been busy with work.

message 84: by sonya (new)

sonya marie madden | 259 comments Want to read more also

message 85: by Kristie, Moderator (Retired) (new)

Kristie | 5928 comments Melissa, I get distracted by Goodreads. lol

Once again this year, I'm hoping to read more of the books that I want to read. I get pulled in to BOMs and challenges and miss out on a lot of books that I think look really interesting. I need to balance better.

message 86: by [deleted user] (new)

Fair dinkum, I cannot make a New Years Resolutions! If I do, I'll be guaranteeing that it never happens. I swear, as soon as I say it...yeah. I've completely given up even on the "monthly reading plan" idea some of the groups I'm in do. If I can't stick to a plan for a month, then I'll NEVER stick to something for a year!!

I'm more of a "fly by the seat of my pants" kind of girl...

message 87: by Alexis (new)

Alexis Harding | 9 comments The former part, sounds like a female version of me!

message 88: by sonya (new)

sonya marie madden | 259 comments Right now my reading goal is 75 books. I may have to adjust it. I'll see how I do.
