Name of the book

Once I read a book that was a story about a writer that was writing a book on a scary house and then he didn’t know what is real and what is not. Who knows what book is this?

It could be "1408," a short story in EVERYTHING'S EVENTUAL.. Mike Enslin went to The Dolphin Hotel's supposedly haunted Room 1408 for a chapter of his upcoming 10 NIGHTS IN 10 HAUNTED HOTELS book.

Or, perhaps it might be 'SALEM'S LOT, where Ben Mears went back to Jerusalem's Lot to write about The Marsten House.
