If anyone besides me has Greg Iles' Series, Penn Cage, there is a note at the top of the series page - books 5 and 6 have delayed publications due to Iles near fatal car accident.
@Anne - Greg Isles has recovered from his accident and has began publishing books again. Natchez Burning was released last year and The Bone Tree is set to be published April of this year. According to his website he will be performing with his band again this year as well. I would really like to see them perform. Great authors (Greg Iles, Stephen King, etc) performing great music, that is right up my alley! LOL

Haven't marked the abandoned ones yet. There are a couple others that should be on there but I haven't figured out what book I read....

Ooh, that is a good idea Almeta! There are some really great authors that have been in The Rock Bottom Remainders that I've always wanted to read. I have read Iles and King, but I'm not sure if I have read any of the others, they are the only two members I can ever remember for some reason. I have the memory of a goldfish though. lol.

I tried to pre-order The Bone Tree today on Amazon and it says unavailable when I got the email saying that Amazon refunded my payment - hmmm.
That is strange, Anne. I hope it gets worked out. Have you read Natchez Burning? I haven't had a chance to get to it yet.

KimeyDiann - I just "found" Greg Iles; haven't started Penn Cage series.
Oh okay. I figured you had read them since you were pre-ordering The Bone Tree. I don't think you have to read them in order though. I think Mortal Fear is my favorite Greg Iles and True Evil was probably my least favorite so far.

He is a really gifted mystery writer. I can't remember why I didn't love True Evil. I gave it 3 stars which means it was just an okay read for me... didn't love it or hate it.

So I keep an open mind when I read. =)
Like Gone Girl - hated it, while many GR friends loved it.
I am making my statement here so I don't have to repeat it in every participant's thread.Damn you all for having so many wonderful series! I am adding too many of them to my tbr - I think I hear it crying out for mercy!

It was pretty good. Here's my review - https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
One of the series I plan to read is The Chronicles of Narnia. I recently read The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, but I'm uncertain in which order to read the rest. GR lists them in two ways: publication order and chronological order. I'm more inclined to go with chronological, though I'd like anyone who's read the series to chime in on what they think the best order might be.
I can't remember now where, Theresa, but Rusalka mentioned the order in a thread. Perhaps she can repeat the order for us here. :)
Theresa~OctoberLace wrote: "One of the series I plan to read is The Chronicles of Narnia. So the magicians nephew first
I think a lot of people read The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe first simply because it's the most famous one and works really well as a stand-alone novel (I've always imagined it was intended as such when Lewis wrote it). I read it first, when I was a little kid, after seeing the cartoon on TV - I had no idea then that there was a series! It was quite fun reading The Magician's Nephew later, to get the back story, and didn't feel I'd missed out by reading it later - especially as Lewis wrote it later, so it was fun to imagine him filling in details and imagining pasts for his characters. On the other hand, I read the entire series in chronological order later, when I was 18, and really enjoyed it that way too. I tend to think it doesn't really matter - all the books work well as stand-alone novels anyway.
Here's the GR page: Chronicles of Narnia where they list the publication order, then the "alternative" chronological order. I'd gotten The Magician's Nephew from the library assuming it was #1, but when I went to bump it up in my TBR list, I saw it marked #6. I think I'll stick to chronological.

LOLOL
I can't remember which thread it was in. But chronological is the way I used to read them (although first one I was bought was Lion, and then I got them all and read them over and over in order). I think it makes the most sense.Magician's Nephew > Lion > Horse and his Boy > Caspian > Dawn Treader > Silver Chair > Last Battle.
Hope you enjoy them Theresa. I hear the symbolism in some of them can be a bit heavy handed as an adult (you know what he's getting at, when as a kid it's just a cool story). Although in my favourite ones (Caspian, Dawn Treader, Silver Chair), he seems to more focus on telling good stories than allegories. And Horse is so different to the rest of them... Maybe I should reread... but then I might ruin the memories... argh! So hard!
Thanks for the positive comments on The Chronicles of Narnia. I read The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe for a challenge requiring an animal on the cover. I liked that, so I thought this would be a good one for our Serial Killers challenge.

Then when you discover how one of the later books ties in, it is really fun!
I created my reporting thread! I still have to catch up reading the rules and such and see how people are organizing their reporting threads. I'm excited. There are whole lot of series I am reading, and enjoy reading!
Nobody tick off Almeta... I mean Barbie! she has taken the serial killer challenge a little too seriously!
I knew it! I always knew that behind this beautiful-and-perfectly-successful-blond there was a serial killer!(view spoiler)
Just saw this list and thought some people may be interested. Two lists of YA fiction series, that are either having their first book published this year OR have a book in the existing series being published this year. Useful if some of you are waiting on books in your series.http://bookriot.com/2015/01/13/great-...
Talking of waiting on books in series... I want to start reading The Daylight War which is book 3 in the series. Book 4 comes out in a couple of months. So if I read it now, do I have to count it as series complete because that is all the books published at the moment - therefore 30 points for "trilogy" plus 5 points for book read. Or can I claim the 5 points for book read, read book 4 in May (I think that's when it comes out) and claim 40 points for "4 book series" then? It might sway whether I start this book now or not!EDIT: I'm getting a feeling this might have already been covered further back in the thread so off to read through.
EDIT: And I think it was me who asked that question before too! Damn my memory! Looks like I might have to wait until May to start reading the book then so I can claim those extra 10 points!
oops, good thing you asked that question Sarah. I messed up. I just finished a book that is #2 in the series with the third not to be published until later this year. It looks like I can't count that now but can count the next book when it comes out as 5 points...right, Janice? I knew it too, I remember reading that now...my memory is shot. ;)
Sarah wrote: "Talking of waiting on books in series... I want to start reading The Daylight War which is book 3 in the series. Book 4 comes out in a couple of months. It would be a difference of 15 points and will make less books you have to read if you want to kill off a four book series in any stand alone level. If you read the 3rd and 4th book at the same time you kill off the series, you get to take 50 points (40+10) and would only have to read 10 other books to claim the level unless you combine it with another series kill.
If you use a trilogy to claim a level and you only read the last book you get 30+5 and have to read 13 more books (or combine with another series).
Janice said if you read any last "published" book in a series, you have to kill the series. If you do, then you only get 30+5 points for it and only 5 points for the 4th book after it comes out.
You know, Sarah - after I wrote that down, it made me rethink my book reading stradigy for the smaller series books and how I was going to apply them to maximize levels vs how many books I needed to read.I guess it really depends on if you want to read the series books back to back or space them out.
Cherie wrote: "Janice said if you read any last "published" book in a series, you have to kill the series. You can choose to only take the 5 points on a current "final" book and then read the new final book when it comes out and count the series then. You just can't count the series twice.

I am not sure that I still have them all captured yet, nor that it is accurate.
FictFact does not have She listed as a series for Haggard. One of the books is under Alan Quartermain, but we are going by GoodReads, right Janice? Next problem is going to be to find the next books. I might need to hire a book thief.
