Confession: I didn't even know that there were series pages until I was exploring some of the reporting threads for people. Links linking to series pages, I was all like "What is this?" Eeek!
Oh I did join Fictfact. I added a bunch of series...I'm not even sure how many. There was this one series that I didn't know was a series or consider a series. I wasn't thinking of counting it though...and I'm not exactly sure of the standings of it on Goodreads. I may have to check.
I still need to transfer my notebook page of series I wrote down to my reporting thread sometime.

Hey I'm sorry to have so many questions and so many problems :-) but I do not know how to create my own folder for this challenge on the app :-)there is really no rush because I probably will not finish my first series or level until the middle of this month or even next month. Just was curious ;-)

Click on "new topic", in very small letters close to the group's avatar on the right. Name it something like "Berit's Series Challenge". You chose the name to your own fancy.
Oh wait - you said on the app? I don't know, to tell you the truth. Can you access the full site? Unless someone else knows how to do it using the app. I tend to not use it because it's so restrictive.

I can see a button to "create a new topic" at the top in my android tablet app in The Year Long Challenges Reporting thread. On the app on my iPod, there is a "+" to the right of the title thread. Press it and it opens a box to enter a name.Unfortunately, neither apps allow editing comments, so once you create the topic and add a comment, I am not sure how you will proceede from there, Berit, without access to the on-line app.
I know I tried that but I keep getting an air message, I will figure this out or take over one of my kids laptops :-)
Berit, you can also use your phone or tablet to go to the actual goodreads website instead of the app, and then you can do everything just like on a pc or laptop.
I agree with Peggy. If it doesn't show up on the mobile site, you can switch it to desktop and you get everything.
I know we aren't supposed to count the .5 books, but the Stephanie Plum series has four of them that are also listed as a separate series. How should I handle that? https://www.goodreads.com/series/4344...

This morning, I found it in what is called "General", a default folder if someone doesn't specify what folder it is to be in. I had first clicked on the Year Long Challenge folder and thought the topic would populate there. But no. Stupid app.

You don't. They are .5's and don't count according to the rules.

I thought I was suppose to be the serial killer in this challenge but my TBR keeps growing, and it's by 'serial' progression instead of single books .....don't know whether to be cheer or cry like a baby!!!
Yeah... a side effect of this challenge is finished into more series than when you start...
Lol I think we are all feeling like that David. I added all my series book to my Tbr and I think my eyes jumped out of my head like a cartoon at the sheer number of books and series I have wrote down to attempt

Its the Greater Toronto Area and yeah we got our fair share of snow today. Total agree ...it was...yucky! Good day to stay in and read though!
I'm not in Toronto but I had to get into London tonight and the roads are not too bad mostly no covered snow roads
I'm in Southern California and it was 80° today :-) sorry hate the snow it is no fun!probably nice to sit inside and read though.
I think a lot of us can relate to your sentiments, Danny. It doesn't help that Audible.com has a $4.95/book sale on "First in Series". Yes, I added two new series.

I'm in Mississippi and while we rarely have snow and people up north wouldn't think it is all that cold here, I hate winter! Lows in the 20's and highs in the 40's most days. I would love to be somewhere like SoCal right now with temps in the 80's!

80F is frigid? I hope you were talking about the 20s and 40s. We are lucky to even reach 80F in summer ;-)And I wish the whole world would either use C or F, I get tired of doing these calculations and I don't think there's an easy rule of thumb, is there?
I just google it, Peggy. "Convert 80 F to C". Search gives me 26.6667... faster than a calculator. But, yes, still a pain.My other complain that I wish could be consolidated is date format, but I think there's another thread here somewhere that discusses that peeve.

Conversions are really a pain in the neck. I'm still getting used to inches, yards, ounces, fluid ounces, gallons, feet... To convert F to C I use the "little more than (F - 32) % 2 principle". The exact calculation would be C = (F - 32) x 5/9 (hope I'm not mixing everything up!) This is too complicate to do every time, so what I do mentally to convert 80 F to C is:
80 - 32 = 48
48 % 2 = 24
So I know it's "a little more" than 24, I would say 25 or 26. Of course it's not as accurate as 26.6667, but it's good enough for the every day use. :)
When I need to say to the doctor how the fever of my kids is doing, then I do the accurate calculation. :)

I do the same Janice, and it only takes a few seconds, but it would be so much easier to just be able to understand what it says right away. I agree about dates. Before Christmas we got a voucher at work for a coffeeshop located on the same grounds, and it was valid until 6/1/15. Because the university has LOTS of international students and employees and the voucher was in English, we were all very confused about the validity.
Same with distances and weights by the way. I know inches and miles by now so I can do a quick calculation in my head. Feet I always forget. Lbs confuses me. And stones too. Although I just googled those and I think I only have to divide by 2 or multiply by 6 to get an estimate. I just now found out that lbs is pounds. I would have known how to calculate those to kg! I don't get the abbreviation.
I think it's us Americans that screw all that up, right? We are the only ones not doing the same thing as everyone else :-)my son is in six grade and is learning the metric system as well as inches yards etc.
Hm, I think in the UK they have some other measures too. Or it's us in the rest of Europe who should adjust ;-)

We switched to metric in Canada around 30 years ago and I still don't completely "think" it. I think celcius and kilometers. But weights and measurements are still in imperial for me. Well, I swap back and forth. I think meters when it comes to fabric, but I also think yards for it. If I was to measure a wall, it would be in feet. My weight is in pounds.
The only way to do it is to completely take away the old system. That's why I understand Celsius and kilometers. We are fed only the one. Our speedometers only show kilometers and signage is shown only in kilometers.
I actually like my weight in kilograms better than pounds, because it is a lot lower :-)

You're right, we should stop using the old system so the new one becomes "natural" We still have problems with pounds/Kilos in part because both measures iare displayed n grocery stores, with the pounds getting the biggest display: they prefer to display the price by pounds than by kilos because the number is lower.

South America uses the metric system too.I have my scale in pounds and my thermostat in F trying to get used to faster. On the other hand I only speak in meters, liter and C to my kids so they grow used to all the systems. (Same thing we do with language, we only speak in Spanish at home). (WE means my husband and I. The kids switch from one to the other)
@Berit, it is frigid to me! But I also have a feeling that the 80F you experience is very different from the 80F I experience in MS. Friends that have been to LA in the summer all said they froze because there is practically no humidity there. I hope to find this out for myself one day. :) As far as the different units of measure, I just always assumed it was us Americans that were all backwards. I can't help but imagine the Forefathers sitting around after becoming independent and trying to come up with ways to be as different from England and the rest of the world as possible. I live in the US, but I'm from Uruguay and I've lived in Brazil for 4 years too.
We use the metric system here in the UK generally but we're stuck in our ways. So I still weigh myself in stones; measure my height in feet and inches; and buy a pint of milk. I have no idea about converting from one system to another - google does it for me. We do measure speed in miles though - our car speedometer is in miles as is speed restriction signs on the roads.
