John | 11 comments Hi I am new to good reads I actually work at a library so I read alot of books.I am almost done with the divergent series and the next series I want to read is the lorien legacies I have searched all over to try and find the suggested reading order of the main books and the lost files.i am the type of reader who likes to follow and read books not necessarily in publication order but in chronological order.I just started allegiant so I have a couple of weeks till I break into the lorien legacies but any suggestions on how I where I should start reading would be greatly appreciated thank-you

Caitlin | 13 comments 1. I am Number Four
2.Power of Six
3.Rise of Nine
4.The Lost Files:Secret Histories
5.Fall of Five
6.Lost Files:Hidden Enemy
7.Revenge of Seven

I accidentally forgot "The Lost Files:The Legacies" and if I am not mistaken it goes between PO6 and RO9

John | 11 comments Caitlin thanks for your response This order is a little different than the order one of the girls at my library suggested she suggests.

Last days of Lorien
The forgotten ones
The fallen Legacies
I am #4
power of 6
six's legacy
rise of 9
nines legacy
fall of 5
search for sam
revenge of 7

Would this be a better way to read them,I like to read in chronological order and follow a timeline. Thanks

Joec (joe467910) | 27 comments Follow Caitlins order if you want to read it chronologically, or follow your girls order if you want to be confused.

message 5: by John (new)

John | 11 comments Thanks thats why I asked for different opinions on how to read the books for just the reason you stated that I want to read them chronologically but not be confused.so as Caitlin wrote just so I have it correct I should read 4 & 6 before starting any of the files,Thank-you so much for your input and opinions.

message 6: by Joec (new)

Joec (joe467910) | 27 comments lol no problem

message 7: by Caitlin (new)

Caitlin | 13 comments It would make sense to read the secret histories first though haha

message 8: by John (new)

John | 11 comments Caitlin if I was to read the histories before 4 should I also read the fallen legacies and skip reading the search for sam until before fall of 5.Thanks Caitlin

message 9: by Caitlin (new)

Caitlin | 13 comments It depends. If you can read without getting confused because some of the characters in the secret histories are in books RO9 and FO5 it all depends on preference at that point but the search for sam should be read before fall of five

message 10: by John (new)

John | 11 comments That should not be an issue do the earlier files give a history of the characters in ro9 & f05 if thats the case I prefer to have a back history of a character before they just pop up in a story if that makes sense

message 11: by Caitlin (new)

Caitlin | 13 comments It's not really characters that are in the RO9 and FO5. It's characters that are linked to characters in the books

message 13: by John (new)

John | 11 comments Let me ask it this way then without it being a spoiler the characters in histories are they pre 9 and 5 or do they kind of run parallel with 9 and 5 if that makes sense.maybe if I could compare a character in mockingjay but I dont want to say more if you have not read it or plan on reading it

message 14: by Caitlin (new)

Caitlin | 13 comments If I am not mistaken, The last days of Lorien is linked to Nine, the Search for Sam is linked to characters linked to Sam(obviously) and I forget who the forgotten ones is linked to.

message 15: by Caitlin (new)

Caitlin | 13 comments Not linked but partially linked. And they don't run parallel except the search for Sam(I think)

message 16: by Caitlin (new)

Caitlin | 13 comments Sorry if it was a spoiler to you

message 17: by John (new)

John | 11 comments I'll figure it out either way i'm sure I will enjoy the series,I still have a good week or so till I dive into it as I just cracked Allegiant but then again when I enjoy a book I am a pretty quick reader I breezed through the hunger games series.

message 18: by Caitlin (new)

Caitlin | 13 comments It's an awesome series. And How are you finding the Divergent series?

message 19: by John (new)

John | 11 comments I am enjoying the series I enjoy reading dystopian type series thats why I think I liked hunger games so much.If you enjoy dystopian A series you may not have heard of that I enjoyed is the razorland series enclave/outpost/horde I enjoyed it,I was not sure I wanted to read divergent one of the girls at my library suggested it until I watched the movie before reading the series and the movie kind of made me want to read the series probably b/c the movie was so close to the book except for a few parts which I wont mention and one major change which I did not care for.I cant say the same about the mortal instruments though I really enjoyed the book but then watched the movie and thought it was HORRIBLE.I think they are doing a pretty good job with the hunger games movies. How does the movie for I am number four compare to the book I enjoyed the movie thats why I think I will really like the book series its been awhile since I saw the movie I may watch it again before reading the books or do you not suggest that.

message 20: by Caitlin (new)

Caitlin | 13 comments The legacies are sort of mixed up from the book and a lot of parts are missing. It's still a good movie but they could never have a follow up for Power of Six

message 21: by Caitlin (new)

Caitlin | 13 comments And the razorland series looks awesome. I'm planning to read it soon

message 22: by John (new)

John | 11 comments Thats why I try to watch the movie first to get a feel for a book because 99% of the time the book is always better the one thing a movie tends to do which is not always a bad thing is put a face to a character in a book and I guess you could say it helps you picture them a little more.a perfect example of bad movie vs good book again is mortal instruments if I would have watched the movie before reading the book I may have enjoyed it but it was soooo far off from the book that after reading the book before watching the movie I had to turn the movie off 1/2 way through I could not bare to watch it anymore, the hunger games movie is the reason I wanted to read the book and I'm glad I did so sometimes a movie can be beneficial. As far as the razorland series goes if you like dystopian I think you will enjoy it.The characters are a bit far fetched and over the top but its worth a read give enclave some time to develop if you dont like it I would say probably about a 1/4 of the wy through you probably wont enjoy the rest of the series.its been nice chattin with you Caitlin I'm off to work soon. Thanks for all the insight into the four series,if you have any questions about any of the books I've read please don't hesitate to ask me about them.some other series I've read.graceling realm series, heir series, caster chronicles, eragon series, dragonkeeper chronicles, narnia series I know I'm missing a bunch but those are the ones I remember right now.well anyway thanks and have a good evening

message 23: by Caitlin (new)

Caitlin | 13 comments Nice chatting with you too!

message 24: by Gidget (new)

Gidget | 2 comments Personally, I would read them in the order they were published. Otherwise some of the "Wow" moments in the novels will be spoiled. But that's not what you asked. This is the chronological order of all of the books:

1 The Last Days of Lorien #5 (before I Am Number Four)
2 The Fallen Legacies #3 (before I Am Number Four)
3 Six’s Legacy #1 (before I Am Number Four)
4 Five’s legacy #7 (before I am Number Four)
5 I Am Number Four
6 The Power of Six
7 Nine’s Legacy #2 (during The Power of Six)
8 Return to Paradise #8 (during The Power of Six)
9 Five’s Betrayal #9 (during The Power of Six)
10 The Rise of Nine
11 The Search for Sam #4 (during The Rise of Nine & The Fall of Five)
12 The Fall of Five
13 The Forgotten Ones #6 (during The Fall of Five)
14 The Revenge of Seven
15 The Fugitive #10 (during The Fall of Five & The Revenge of Seven)

John | 11 comments Thank you gidget this really helps a lot I was following Caitlin's advice and just got done reading I am number four which I liked the battle scene near the end was a bit stretched out and I can't figure how everyone but Henri survived also as much as in love that Sarah and four were with one another four leaves without her,I don't want to ruin anything for later books just in case she re-emerges but now I am contemplating following Caitlin's order or taking your advice and reading everything the way you mentioned which is chronologically if it takes away from the stories reading them chronologically then I guess next up would be the power of 6.if the files are all about getting back stories on characters and Lorien without getting too confused I prefer to read them in your order if that makes sense.thanks for all the info

message 26: by John (last edited Jan 15, 2015 05:33PM) (new)

John | 11 comments So just to follow up with how things are going with my reading of the Lorien legacies I'm just cruising along loving the series I actually started with I am number four before starting on the files so I went back and read the last days of Lorien, then the legacies if I am judging right if I'm going to read the series in chronological order I've already read I am number four so return to paradise should be next in line then the power of six that's the way I am thinking my next two reads should go,unless someone thinks I should read 5 & 6''s legacy before reading return to paradise and the power of 6 I planned on reading 5 & 6's legacies after 5 was introduced or should I read them earlier.thanks all loving this book series

message 27: by Gidget (new)

Gidget | 2 comments I'm probably too late, but here goes ...

If you read the books in the order they were published, Number 5 is first introduced in "The Fall of Five." "Five's Legacy" and "Five's Betrayal" take place earlier, but his story is a side story until "The Fall of Five."

I read "Six's Legacy" right after I read I am Number Four and before I read "The Power of Six." I liked knowing more about Six before reading "The Power of Six." I felt the story made more sense.

I do think you should read "The Power of Six" before you read "Return to Paradise," but that's because "Return to Paradise" might make more sense.

You'll probably love them no matter what order you choose :-)

message 28: by Katherine (new)

Katherine B | 1 comments Thank you thank you for the suggested reading order! I've been trying to sort out when to read the supplemental books- I've just finished "The Fall of Five". Going to go back and read what I've missed :)

message 29: by Christina (new)

Christina | 1 comments Hi! So far I've read I am number four, the power of six and I'm in the middle of reading the rise of nine. I just found out now about the the legacy books and the files and I'm not sure what to read. If i finish reading the rise of nine and then go on to read fall of five and revenge of seven without reading any of the files books, will that matter? Thanks

The Mortal Instruments movie was beyond disappointing!! They have a tv series coming out Jan. 12th and I hope they improve on the movie mistakes!! I have read all the books and loved them.

Debi | 3 comments Debi wrote: "I am frustrated..I want to read these in order but I am reading them on my nook and can't seem to find the appropriate lost file books in nook form..If I remember B&E used to have a place to click ..." well I tried to delete this but couldn't. I just had to go back and buy each book separately as nook books instead of the 3 books in one. The Hidden Enemy wasn't available that way but we will see what happens!

message 32: by Debi (new)

Debi | 3 comments LOL this whole "what order should I read them in "thing really reminds me of the mortal instrument books..I read the mortal Instruments first..and then the infernal devices then I kind of wish I had read those before the mortal instruments so then I read the mortal instruments again and recognized the characters and story lines of some in the infernal devices. It was like a loop!

Johnny (al3x_r1d3r) | 7 comments Are any of the lost files even worth reading?

Sarah (sarahbearjv21) | 6 comments Johnny wrote: "Are any of the lost files even worth reading?"

I think it is because I'm a really big I Am Number Four fan and want as much as I can get but if you don't want the back stories and are ok with what you know then I think its fine.

message 35: by Johnny (new)

Johnny (al3x_r1d3r) | 7 comments Well, considering the fact that I finished Rise of Nine and Fall of Five in two days (yesterday and today :P, I'd say I absolutely love I Am Number Four too... Normally I don't really care to read about back stories, but considering I'm almost done the main series I feel obligated to read the lost files now XD Thanks Sarah! (Btw totally hoping John&Six get together no offence "Sarah" ;D)

message 36: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (sarahbearjv21) | 6 comments Its totally OK! John and Six's kids would be the cutest with the combination of their personalities!

message 37: by Johnny (new)

Johnny (al3x_r1d3r) | 7 comments Very true. I am now sad because of the fact that I finished the main series ._. but the ending when John flies around the world mysteriously is just the best!
