My days have been crazy and I just didn't have time to finish my reading and the I did and .... oh, man ...
Maya Angelou is a force of nature, this is her autobiography and her first book and I had never read anything from her before. This is isn't a happy book, let me tell you, this book is really intimate and sensitive. Her story is something hard to swallow yet Maya is so real....she dances with the words, writing memorable quotes making you forget how to breathe.
It's quite an experience to grow with her, to see Maya overcome her traumas as she is becoming the master of herself. The innocent child's view becoming something critical when she starts to think about her social position as a black woman, challenging the barriers the society imposed on her.
This book really touched something deep inside of me and I still need time to process everything I'm feeling (since I finished the book this morning). This is definitely worth reading and I'm glad Sarah recommended this book quite a while ago. Did you guys had time to read the book with all the December festivities, hahaha? And If you did, did you liked it? <3
