ABANDONED. Looking for a Sci Fi Book. Do not know the name or author

I'm trying to find the title of a science fiction/fantasy book I read as a young teen in the early 70s. I'm not even sure when the book was published nor do I remember the author. The book was about a paralyzed man who learns to meditate so that his consciousness can leave his body and he can travel, then return to his body. He eventually learns he can travel through space and he travels to another world where he rides a giant dragonfly and becomes a hero. I don't even remember any of the specifics of his adventures on that distant world, just that he rides a dragonfly. If anyone can help me with the title or author that would be appreciated. Thanks.
