1. Do you buy something you know they would hate if you had to get someone something because you had to?

We set up and hired a belly dancer singing birthday greeting for a co-worker that we were absolutely sure would piss him off terribly. We were wrong, though. He seemed to have a wonderful time with it even though he was mighty embarrassed.

2. Which do you prefer best, online shopping or mall shopping?

I'm not a "shopper" person to begin with. I go shopping when I need something. I would usually avoid malls and mall stores. I can always find it cheaper online.

3. Who is the least famous person you dislike and why?

Hmm... tough one. I don't usually dislike/hate anyone. I often don't give enough of a sh*t to care about them one way or the other. However, there was this one fellow that my brother hired on a job that we were doing once. I watched this fellow systematically undermine my relationship with my brother and attempt to usurp my position in the company. Sadly, he was also stealing from my brother. I could not convince my brother of this because this guy had him so BS'd. Later, though, my brother realized how right I was about this guy.

I'm not at all a violent person. I've always been a big fellow (topped out at 6'2" - 265lbs in my prime days). I had to learn at a young age to not be violent. However, I would have snapped the spine of this weaselly little bast*rd with my bare hands given the opportunity. Fortunately for him, he quit before I got the chance.

1. How many books are there currently sitting on your headboard/nightstands?

2. What would you be doing right now if there were no such thing as the Internet?

3. Have you ever ridden (driven or as a passenger) a motorcycle?

message 54: by Linda (new)

Linda | 615 comments 1. Sadly, four and a Kindle (bio of Che Guevara, "Scarcity", Divine Comedy and Revival. Plus the kindle. My dream is always to work on one book at a time, but it never happens.

2. Sleeping! I'm halfway there, anyway. Or returning some of today's many phone calls.

3. Omg, both of my brothers and my father had them when I was young. Can't tell you how many times I rode up front with my dad, and then in middle school, would skip school and ride with my oldest brother. Good times.....

1. Favorite cake, say for your birthday?

2. The Road--there were three types of people: those who gave up and killed themselves, those who became cannibals, and those who fought the good fight. If it all goes down tomorrow, which are you?

1. Favorite cake, say for your birthday?

Spice cake. I LOVE spice cake. I'll settle for a good carrot cake if spice isn't available, though. :)

2. The Road--there were three types of people: those who gave up and killed themselves, those who became cannibals, and those who fought the good fight. If it all goes down tomorrow, which are you?

I'd like to think I'd fight, fight, fight to survive; sadly though, you don't really know how you'll react till you're in that situation.

3. Which book have you most often given as a present?

Red velvet!!! It's my absolute FAV!!!! YUM!

2. The Road--there were three types of people: those who gave up and killed themselves, those who became cannibals, and those who fought the good fight. If it all goes down tomorrow, which are you?

I would commit suicide, that's just the type of person I am. If I were ever locked in a torture room or something similar I would find a way to end my life after exhausting all efforts to escape.

3. Which book have you give most often as a present?

Sorry I Pooped in Your Shoe (and Other Heartwarming Letters from Doggie).

My 3 questions:

What would you do if you woke up in a coffin?

What would you do if you saw a ghost of yourself walk across the room?

What would you do if that ghost jumped out a two story window?

3. That would be curious, see above.

1. If you lost your hearing and could only hear sound for one hour each month, which sound would you most like to hear?

2. What's a good idea for recycling books that you may no longer want, but that the used bookstore won't take?

Thanks! We're gonna be near French Quarter, but closer to Convention.
That's funny, bc I gave up burgers years ago and never really missed 'em! Beignets are de rigueur, I know, as is some type of gumbo...I saw some recs (w/pictures) that included a fried chicken place and one member of the party agrees with me that it sounds good. But the original plan was to bike through mansions and garden. However, we might switch to a gator tour (pity, that gator-slapping cat has retired and is now chasing squirrels....I would have loved to have met Mugsy!)

Thanks again!
