Sabrine | 58 comments I posted a few of my theories in the HoF discussion thread, but I'll break it apart here.

In Throne of Glass, we know Cain told Elena and Celeana "You were brought here-all of were. All the players in the unfinished game." We can deduce that Aelin and Dorian are Elena and Gavin's counterparts or Aelin stands for Brannon because of her magic.

This leads me to wonder about a few other things such as who the king might be.

I'm with you guys on thinking that might not be Dorian's father. Somehow I don't think the king appears to be who he is. We learned from Mort(the woodknocker) that the king discovered the riddle to the Wyrdkeys long ago. I wonder if the king once opened a portal and became possessed by something despicable or it killed the king and took his place. Dorian's parents don't sleep in the same room and never have according to Dorian. It is most definitely weird to picture, but I wonder if that has meaning. The queen and Hollin made no appearance whatsoever in HoF. We have glimpsed the king's POV before in CoM or it might have been ToG. I guess he seemed human enough with his thought process. I'm still thinking on this...

Could the Dark Lord Erawan that Gavin and Elena defeated so many years ago be the one that has made a reappearance? Possibly posing as the king? The stories say Gavin slew him, but what if he didn't or something came for revenge? Celeana couldn't figure out why Gavin constructed the castle the way he did. Elena distracted the Dark Lord when she whispered his true name enabling Gavin to defeat him. Is this what it will take for Aelin to defeat the king? None of us know the king's name afterall. Not sure if Erawan is considered the Dark Lord's true name. His realm yes. Could also be the next Dark Lord possessing the king.

The Amulet of Orynth and the Eye of Elena both offer protection. I would need to see the riddle again about the Wyrdkeys, but there could be a link between the two. Damaris, the Sword of Truth, I think will also be very significant in revealing more truths such as revealing the identities of creatures (ex. Valg princes).

I don't think we know the full history of the battles that took place long ago. The Valg and the Dark Lord Erawan were definitely present. Elena, Gavin, Brannon, Athril, Queen Maeve were also there. The witches have their own history. The wyverns are still a mystery. Then there appears to be one more creature the king is breeding that will be seen in Morath.

Also, with how Chapter 67 was written, I think Chaol might be an unexpected piece in the unfinished game. Seems like he has a grand role to play especially with the Eye of Elena and Damaris on him.

What do you all think?

Noris | 574 comments Ohhh... I have to process all this in my sooo confused mind... But sounds good! And at least for now, every detail on maas stories is relevant... Even crucial for the rest of the story

Sabrine | 58 comments Haha! I know what you mean. That's why I'm trying to remember all the small details before the 4th book. Such a looongg wait.

Liz | 172 comments @ Noris I'm so glad I'm not the only mexican fan here!

I agree that Dorian or Chaol are going to play Gavin's role. I'm leaning towards Chaol because he's currently in possesion of Damaris and I don't think Gavin has ever been mentioned to have any magical ability.
In Throne of Glass I thought that Aelin was going to be Elena but after reading Heir of Fire it seems like she has more in common with Brannon, besides the fire powers, they both have tragic pasts, issues of self worth probably. Aelin is also going to rebuild Terrasen, there are other things too that I can't remember right now, but thats the gist of it.

Noris | 574 comments Don't know girls, but I'm thinking that chaol's fate will be more important. I mean, since I read ToG I thought that he was too good to be just a captain of the guard. And in HoF when he takes Damaris (don't kill me for this, but I've always thought that Damaris is too much for Dorian) a part of me start guessing if Chaol could be king... I mean, just if Dorian can't go back from those fraking obsydian rocks!

Sabrine | 58 comments I most definitely agree that Chaol has a huge role to play. It's part of my theories that I'm working on for next book's plot.

He'll be playing a really active role as a rebel and I see him connecting with Ellywe. Honestly after what happened with Nehemia, I think his greatest challenge will be to face anyone from that kingdom. It might not have been present throughout HoF, but we all know how much regret he must carry. Helping them I think will ease his conscience. Not all, but some. He took his first step when he told Murtaugh to make sure Ellywe received word of Aelin's return. Aelin had also sent a letter to the king and queen that help would arrive.

If Dorian were to die(please he cannot), then I can somehow see Chaol taking his place because the people have faith in him. Similar to what happened with Brannon.

Liz | 172 comments Jajaja de nada Noris :) Yo igual, la adoro.

I think that Dorian dying is a very real option right now. He doesn't have much going for him right now other than Aelin's friendship and Chaol's loyalty. We don't know how is own kingdom feels about him (I mean the "good" people who are aware of the atrocities that king is committing) and whether or not they actually want him on the throne. Not to mention the collar . And Chaol is way to big of a character to go back to just being a Captain.

Em I am almost sure Chaol will become a king. Probably not Adarlan's, since that's Dorian's territory, but maybe he will conquer lands of his own?

I don't think it is a coincidence that he took Damaris with him.

Em I also thought about this once. Dorian dying and Chaol taking his place, because it would have been Dorian's wish and the people believe in him. It would be a great ending, despite heartbreaking.

Sabrine | 58 comments There are so many routes Chaol's character could take.

1. Sacrifice himself to save his friends/kingdom. I don't think Sarah would be building up his character so much if he was going to die in the end, but knowing his character, this is something he would do.

2. Like you guys mentioned, him becoming king elsewhere. I agree there is no way he can just go back to being a captain.

3. Chaol taking Dorian's place could be a real possibility if something happens to both Dorian and Hollin. I can also see Dorian recovering from the Wyrdcollar being something that strengthens him as king.

4. Aelin, Dorian and Nehemia have all mentioned the difficulties that come with being royalty and having a nation rely on you. For Chaol's character, he could end up being a high general somewhere(like Aedion). I don't see him letting go of Adarlan easily unless Dorian wishes for his friend to be happy and be with let's say Aelin.

I'm sure we'll be learning more about Anielle in the following books. I think his dad requesting him back had more meaning behind it than what we could see. I don't see why Chaol would go back to Anielle in the end. I think by the end of the series, their circumstances would be safe enough for his brother to rule or Chaol would spend some time away to help his brother before returning to his new position.

Noris | 574 comments Yeah... May be... But I think I'd seen a picture on sarah's pinterest of a man with equiptment... You know, a sword, a shield, shirtless... (that's good) and in the description said sth like "Dorian on later books..."

No way. Dorian can't die, he is the main character with Aelin and the guy who is going to kick everyone's ass. He will survive somehow the collar - I pretty sure Aelin is going to help him with it -, he will *Fingers crossed*
