ABANDONED. Fantasy. Angels vs Fallen Angels (boy in middle)

This might be a stretch but I remember reading this book in 2006-2008. This book is about a young boy who gets caught up in a fight between angels and fallen angels. I believe the fallen angels save him and take him to their hide out and explain what is going on. This biggest thing I remember about this book is that the main character played Warhammer and compares certain events to warhammer battles. I also remember that at some point the ancient beast the leviathan is involved and I believe that he rides it into battle against the angels and is fighting for the fallen angels. He is faced with a choice of saving a leader of the army or supporting the majority of the forces. This is all I remember.

I read some of that the other day and it’s similar but I didn’t think it was the exact book.
