Diana | 4 comments What a great idea to have these magic squares to inspire the reading for 2020, and hopefully get me a bit out of some literary comfort zones. I included some additional categories and also removed ones. For example, I haven't included the'female author' square given that my 2019 reading list was preponderantly by women authors, and i extended the reading challenge into a 6*6 table. So .. these are my 2020 squares:

Row 1:
ART THEME: currently reading Fake Like Me by Barbara Bourland
SET IN ANCIENT TIMES
OUTCAST CHARACTER: currently reading Eggshells by Caitriona Lally
MENA AUTHOR
SHORT STORIES
SCIENTIST MAIN CHARACTER (for fiction) or AUTHOR (for nonfiction)

Row 2
TRANSLATED FROM SPANISH
SET IN AFRICA
YOUNG ADULT
AWARD WINNING
HORROR (i haven't read horror in 2019)
SET DURING RENAISSANCE

Row 3
CLASSIC NOVEL (1900-1950)
SCI-FI/ FANTASY
TRANSLATED FROM CHINESE
SPORTS THEME
SET IN SOUTH AMERICA
SIBLINGS CHARACTERS

Row 4
MEMOIR
SERIAL KILLER
TRANSLATED FROM PORTUGUESE
SET ON AN ISLAND
GENDER FLUID CHARACTER or SEXUAL IDENTITY THEME
SET IN CAMPUS or ACADEMIA

Row 5
CARIBBEAN AUTHOR
POETRY
COLD WAR
CLASSIC NOVEL (1700S or 1800S
TRANSLATED FROM JAPANESE
SET IN MY HOME COUNTRY (ROMANIA) or ADOPTIVE COUNTRY (IRELAND)

Row 6

Happy New Year all, i hope the year will bring many enriching reading experiences and literary discoveries
