I've slowed down a bit lately, just in the mood to savor some truly awful classic sci-fi novellas. Up to 7240 now.
Kati, how is Sputnik sweetheart? I want to go for a Murakami after my current book but I can't decide.
Of the three Murakami I’ve read, it’s probably my favorite. No annoying cat obsession. :) It’s fairly short, though.
3919 — Amy Merrick’s On Flowers is the reading equivalent of having someone braid your hair and tell you you’re pretty.
Sorry that I have been very quiet. I was caught up with work reated things and hobbies. Read a few books in between all that. Metamorphasis, England and the Need for Nations (recommended it to Jonny who liked it), Executive Intent, Come as You Are, The Prefect and Mating Intelligence Unleashed. On 4034 words now. Back on the reading wagon everyday now.
Everyone's been quiet, glad to see people are still working away at it! I just finished the Hyperion Cantos series, and I'm ringing in at 9511. Gotta choose my next book carefully to hit that halfway point!
Leanne Shapton's Guestbook: Ghost Stories -- now at 4991. A bit of a cheat since there are a lot of pictures, but whatever.
I also just finished the hyperion cantos. Brings me to 7797. (I also finished 10 of the disc world books)
Been on a little binge of shorter books, including two which, I realized (after reading), were abridged. I re-read the full version of one, and gave up on the other. Just finished Contact by Carl Sagan moments ago and goddamn that was a great story. I've cleared the halfway mark. Just hit 10704.
Pushing on, read a couple more Discworld books, some L Ron Hubbard and a smattering of random sci-fi. Up to 13935 now!
Finished another big chunk of Terry Pratchett! Up to book 20 in disc world. And finished good omens. Gets me to 12308
Continuing to power through Discworld and finished a couple meh books. 16820, and just cracked open Dune for a re-read.
A Very Long Engagement — 6094. Should be over 7,000 by end of month but still very, very far from 20,000. My goal may be more like 15,000...
15k is still way more than most people read in a year, Kati. And this year is pretty fucking distracting.
"Distracting" is an understatement, lol. Trucking along in any event. :) Little Fires Everywhere = 6432.
Cleared 20k with The Martian Chronicles by Ray Bradbury (would not recommend). Gonna see how high I can go!
Finally got round to sitting down and adding my books/pages to a spreadsheet like Andrew recommended. Currently on 8,143.
You're on fire Kati! I have been at a low fucking smolder for sure. I'm at 21256, and treading water mid-Dune series.
Creeping up on that 15k, you'll get it. Also you and your sister had me cracking up on your podcast.
My page count didn't change from like July until this week. Also congratulations on ousting a dictator!
